I occasionally do a google search against my name in the news to see what comes up. Today, there is a story of a man who has to join the sex offenders register for 5 years and he shares my name. His age is different, so at least we don't share the same birth dates - it is safe to assume we don't share the same passport details either (assuming he has a passport). However, I am now wondering if this will cause me any problems when traveling abroad in the future? Am I likely to be inconvenienced due to the actions of this low-life? I am assuming that, as part of joining such a register, the person has to submit birth dates, photos, passport numbers and the like? I am also assuming that the UK shares this information with various other countries. Of course, we have all heard stories of people held up, with flights missed, because a name comes up on a database. I don't fancy going through that stress, and potential extra costs of booking a new flight. Am I worrying about nothing here?
