Trying this for the first time, meant to be good for blood pressure etc https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chayote
I'm not sure I have seen that type of gourd here outside the Chinese grocers, I know we get it in the Phils regularly although I didn't cook any myself in December but I think granny did cook some of the ones I bought in SM.
some of the local Indian grocers have it also. We can get that and okra at both Morrisons and the local Indian grocers.
I know my wife has bought this before but not very often. What she does buy regularly is the bitter melon which a lot of people buy in a tablet form (bitter melon extract) for reducing blood sugar levels. She makes it with egg once in a while and I quite like it. We get it from an Asian store as we don’t see it anywhere else.
There are a couple of places we can get it from in the Toxteth area of the city. Our shopping habits have changed since the social distancing no more Asda or the like. Not sure we will go back to supermarkets either. How are you chaps all sourcing your Jasmine rice now? The Asian shops in my area have been plundered for that stuff.
Jasmine rice, around here not easy to get, the local Pakis seem to prefer the much cheaper and more common Basmati rice, we have to order online..
My wife prefers to get hers in Phills from her next door neighbour its FOC, and doesnt like the idea of having to pay for Sayote .
