    Hi,

What's the best way to send a box package about 50cm by 50cm 4kg from UK to Phillipines and will there be import tax (like there was when I send a small box to Thailand and the tax was more than the item was worth!)

So much conflicting information on Google. I read no import duty if less than 10k php value and then read the threshold is 1k php.

The value of he items is about 5k php mostly clothes.

I honestly don't know, because as you say, the customs regs there are totally beyond logic and my understanding.

Personally, I'd just fill up a small 'Balikbayan box' ... total cost maybe 50 quid ?

Takes a couple of months (by sea), but virtually always get to the destination unmolested, and no extras to pay.

Also only goes by dimensions, not weight.... so you can pile the stuff in. :D

My sis sent her daughter in law some Nike trainers, customs held them till she paid a sum similar to the UK cash value of the shoes. I sent DHL small package last week to mindanao, just under two days to manila, estimated delivery time next week  no rhyme nor reason to the PI postal system, could be worse I suppose 15 years back most stuff I sent used to just vanish, the postal service were notorious thieves.

A few months is a bit long to wait so I'll order online in Philli and get to straight straight to them from Lazada or something.
