    Hi,

We are in the process of applying for my wife's daughter to finally come and live with us (long story but I couldn't afford 2 lots of visa applications when my wife originally came here) and we need to get some documents in the Philippines to support the application. My wife's cousin has been her daughters guardian since she left her in the Philippines and we want to get permission for her to act in an official capacity to get a passport, etc for the daughter. Anyone who has dealt with the officials in the Philippines at places like DSWD, etc knows what they are like and so we are getting a Special Power of Attorney form done for her.

Asides from the SPA form itself which we have already got from the embassy website, does anyone know what other documents my wife needs to take with her for her appointment tomorrow? I presume her passport, BRP, etc to prove her identity. Anything else?

    Thanks in advance

Well, we've been and done it. For anyone that's not been to the Philippine Embassy in London it wasn't the best experience!

    1. They still require face masks - no mask, no entry! Not easy to find one in the local area if you didn't come prepared so make sure you bring one!
    2. No photocopying on site. Make sure you have EVERYTHING photocopied and multiple times too as they love their bits of paper in there. If you don't have them the nearest is in a Rymans which is 5-10 minutes walk away and £2.50 per page! They will send you away if you don't have them, so again, best be prepared!
    3. No mention on the Philippine Embassy website but when submitting it we were told we needed to supply a Special Delivery envelope so that they could post it to us. Yet another trip back to Rymans to queue up in the post office there. To be fair, we received the completed and official SPA form in the post 36 hours later so we can't fault that, just a shame they didn't tell us in advance to bring one.

Bare in mind, when you are there and have a 1 hour time slot for your appointment and you keep getting sent away to get the various things listed it gets stressful, particularly as it was packed in there and we were starting to worry that it was going to be a wasted 400 mile round trip! Please take my advice on board so you can arrive better prepared and hopefully have a smoother experience than we did.

we went there before covid to get my wife a new 10 years passport. If i never go there again it will be far too soon. Hot day--place stunk.
Our journey from Ryde i o Wight was--car to Ryde pier head. Fast cat to portsmouth. Coach to london Victoria bus station. Tube to Trafalgar square ( ? ). Early start--whole day job.

We were lucky in that we had a choice when we renewed my wife's passport at the end of 2021. As we live in the far north of Lincolnshire now it's around 200 miles to London. But it's only 250 miles to Edinburgh so we went there instead... nice modern building, friendly and efficient staff and in and out quick as you like. It was 100 times better experience than the embassy in London and well worth the extra few miles driving.

Sadly on this occasion we didn't have a choice....

Same we went to London embassy back Nov 2020 during C19 to renew wife’s 10 year passport
    It was ok for us
Queue outside maybe 6 deep only letting in when your time slot was reached and she was in and out maybe 25 mins max
