I'm guessing it will stay the same for a while, I think any increase would meet a lot of opposition. If I was a betting man I would wager that both the visa fees and NHS surcharge will rise.

Vote Labour, they are promising to scrap the financial requirement :)

I'm interested in voting for no party at the moment but why do you think Labour will ruin the country?

They are doubling the cost of bringing in skilled workers per year from £2000 to £4000. If we need skilled people then why charge anything?

The remark was tongue in cheek to the previous post!!
I rarely argue politics as I have a very hard line view of Brexit, capital punishment, NHS services should be paid for if used by migrants or abusers, cut out sponging off society, and many more points of view that have been done to death on other threads.
My vote went with Thatcher its going with May.

If you don't vote, you can't complain about the government you get!

Quite right too. British workers for British jobs and the tariff for bringing in foreign workers is to help pay for training of our own young people to do those jobs in future.

I agree, and like I said I am interested in giving my vote to no party yet. I actually think there is a case for spoiled ballots as well though which remains an option. This allows the public to express their view in the lack of options. Voting blindly for the same party every year seems pointless. You might as well just set up a standing order as you are not really taking interest in the democratic process or what policies are good for the country.

As for the doubling of the training to pay for training of our own young people, we already have a successful apprenticeship scheme and its funding is mainly by the private sector. The doubling of this fee is merely to pushing the buttons of the rabid brexiteers and little englanders. It also actually pushes up costs because we just do not have the people for these jobs. So we, the public, end up covering this increased fee in inflation.

Politics can ruin friendships, however what i will say is that we are still paying for thatcherism many years later, many people forgot about Margaret Thatcher the milk snatcher, i hope we wont come to rue May day likely to be June 8th ;). From a personal perspective Mrs May was unable to bring immigration down to under 100,000 per year as home secretary, i doubt very much that she will be able to do so as Prime Minister.
What i do see is a ticking Time bomb in the elderly care sector whereby English people wont/cant bring themselves to do certain jobs, especially in the Care at Home, and Carehome sector these jobs are to a large extent taken by Immigrants, Brexit (which i am in favour of) will speed up this Time Bomb, and it could be filled by none EU workers, however with present policies this can never happen. Again this is due on the whole to short term vote/eye catching policies which will have long term drastic effects in certain sectors, much as past Governments vote catching decisions are having now.
