No which is the reason for asking question.

Brom27 response is that need to do three separate applications so need to get going on the other two.

If i recall correctly when the form asks about dependants also applying there are a number of drop down boxes that appear.
In our case (and this was 18 months ago)
It was my wifes daughter who was also appling and we filled in that information.

Started doing the application for the children and going through the options for visa type and not sure I have the correct one:

    Reason for visa: Settlement
    Visa Type: Settlement
Visa Subtype: Child or other dependent of settled person

As wife is not settled (although I am as stepfather) this seems the best option or am I missing something ?

Are you doing it on the mothers application?

Doing it on mother's application. I am dual national (British and Irish) and living in the UK at the moment and we have been doing the long distance relationship for some time now. Last 5 months have had all of us in the UK on a marriage visa and as a result have to go back in September to do full visa application.

Options are not great and the one selected seems the best. As we are married now they both count as stepchildren and reading the immigration rules definitions:

    “a parent” includes

    1. (a) the stepfather of a child whose father is dead and the reference to stepfather includes a relationship arising through civil partnership;
So on that basis I think I am probably good to count at least one if not both as my children.

So I just got to the Health surcharge and on my wife's part it says "no dependents" despite applying for her daughter too. Is this right? (To add I thought I added her daughter to the application).

I listed dependents in application but ended up doing three applications and paying separately three times.

With children the ihs generated a reference but put as zero the cost which is as I understand a bug in the system. From what I have read there will be a follow up request for the cost.

I have been granted several 6 month tourist visas over the past 2 years and currently on a 6 month visa with my son in England visiting my husband. The next stage is a Spouse visa when i return to the philippines in Feb 2019.

When i apply, which form do i use because i will be applying for my son also?
When i looked online at the spouse visa there was no mention of the Health Card, nor was it mentioned on the financial requirements apendix 2. Do i just pay for the Health card and sub,it it with the application?

Do i have to make two seperate applications as my son is 9? or do i just put him on my application?

The process is two separate applications using the online system.

Application 1 is for you as the applicant

Application 2 is for your son and you apply on his behalf as shown above.

Your application will list him as one of your dependents.

Your husband will be sponsor for both of you.

By health card I'm assuming you mean IHS. IHS payment for you will be taken as part of the application process although you can save a bit of money on that using a direct payment and putting the reference in your application. There is some detail on this in other threads.

The system will get the IHS payment for your son wrong and not charge him. They will then send you an email latter asking for the payment and including a link to pay it with. Have to pay it within 7 days or they will cancel the application.

On supporting documents when sent to sheffield make sure you link the applications on the front sheet.

Key issue will be your son's father and proving he has no input in ypur son's life. Worth posting the situation to try and get some advice on it as this has proven to be a major problem area for lots of people.

Whilst this seems harsh the ideal scenario's for you and your son are that either there is no father listed on the birth certificate or the father is dead and you have the birth and death certificates for the father or at least the death certificate and these need to go in the supporting documents. Don't like writing that but from what I have picked up from other posts if you do not have that scenario you may have problems getting a settlement visa for him. The visa system has no compassion or common sense on this subject so assume the worse case scenario and get evidence to overcome.

If in doubt on this one start a separate threat about your step son to get advice as will be more obvious and people who have had problems can add their input and suggested ways to overcome. People do get the visa, it is just a tricky area and you want as much advice on it as possible to ensure you cover any area they might use for refusal.

Best of luck and do post any more questions on the forum.

thank you for that. Much appreciated.

Do i photocopy all supporting documents then? So i can put the photocopy in with my sons application and then write a note linking the applications and saying all master copies are with my application. I Did this for us both to get our tourist visa to come to the uk this time. Do i do the same again?

Still waiting for results of our application but what we did was put originals in child's application where appropriate ie children's birth certificates and copies of key documents with the note saying the originals are with my wife's application.

Thank you for that it is beggining to make sense, however if i make 2 applications for my son and I online the supporting documents do I have to do 2x financial requirements apendix 2 or do I just send 1 and link both online applications with 1x financial?

Do you know the name of the form I am supposed to fill out. Again this is confusing at the moment I am under the illusion that it is for VAF4A.

You apply on line and print out the application form for both of you. Take application forms with you to vfs global and sign it there and submit passports. The hard copy form vaf4a is only for North Koreans. Everyone else is expected to use the online application and print the forms from that.

For supporting documents we sent in copy of application form and completed appendix 2 in each pack.

    Thank you that make sense.

So for me I take it I go to settlement , settlement, wife.

and what do I do for my son? ( Please see attached picture)

Does it also mean i need to fill out 2 x Sponsorship Undertaking Forms

So fo clarification and answers from you ( Thank you very much by the way)

I need to do the following:

    2 x online applications
    2 x Financial Requirement forms
Sponsorship undertaking form ( How Many 1 or 2 also )

Do you know anything about all the information over the past 2 years that the Home Office already has. I take it they scan everything and keep it on file. I Just wondered how in depth i have to go, over and over again with the evidence. It will be like i am telling the same story. Is this the way it has to be done. They have already seen 90% of all of this application. Or Do they just want you to tell the whole story again?
