    Elsa left her phone in work.

    She went back to collect it. In a meantime, her friend text her to say she had left her phone in work.

    So how was Elsa able to read that message? Black magic? Radio waves? Smoke signals?

    Some people...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Long story short... I give our old petrol generator to the wife's Nephew whose wife has just had another baby - so now they have 4 kids and a sarix2 with a couple of freezers containing their stock - which I know will all go bad if they don't have a back up...

    Following Typhoon Tino, the power is out - wife come's back this morning tells me they're good they've got the generator going... had a few problems but got it going - Did he change the AVR I ask ? Errr - I dunno etc... so I say OK I'll have a look once I've had my coffee...

    Finish my coffee, Nephew has gone to work - left the generator (RUNNING) , wife and kids all inside the house !!!

    I go home and tell the wife - You need to tell them to move the ff'ing generator out of the house... and they should try to fix the AVR before they use it...

    What can we do :frust:

    Philippines is most certainly a land of the stupid, I've made that remark a few times here, usually to be lambasted by some of our members, these are usually Cupid Stunts themselves that have never lived in PH for any length of time and have little of any clue of the true reality of life for an Ex-pat living there long term.

    I would not call it stupidity but a different way of thinking, culture, personal familial priorities, lower level of education compared to any western nation, as if the population has been kept ignorant on purpose, with school curriculums that don't explain biology, reproduction, world history, geography and any other thing that could explain Darwin's theory of evolution. That is why more often than not, it may appear that they may be not at our intellectual level
    In my mind, I apportion blame to the Catholic Church. As long as the poor faithful beg for miracles and their donations fill the coffers, keep them down.

    OK, I would not disagree with what you have said for the most part, other than; this different way of thinking? for me they are just plain Fecking stupid, in fact I honestly believe that that so many people there are somewhat retarded due to their, lack of nutrition in the diet, Filipinos are often known to say I am happy if I can eat rice 3 times a day and that is exactly what they do have, mostly rice with very little added protein and when this is present it is only a very small percentage of the amount we would have in the western world, their diet also lacks the proper nutrients required for the brain to develop to its full potential.

    I also have another theory aligned with the above, the closer to the equator a country is the less people have to plan/think for the future, so these people have evolved into a population of dimwits? if they do not plants their seed today they can do it tomorrow or a week from now, there is always something to harvest all year round, this kind of sums up their attitude to most things do not do today what you can do tomorrow and do not fix/repair anything until it breaks. Most of the smartest people in this world are born within 55 degrees of latitude and above, Scotland lies within that area and we all know so many great discoveries and inventions come from the Scots.

    I not so sure that texting a person on their phone when it is sitting beside you could be considered a different way of thinking and the same goes for running a combustion engine inside the house? this all sounds Fecking stupid to me. When I was living there long term rubbing shoulders almost daily with Filipinos from all walks of life some of which were in the higher echelons of society and dollar millionaires all of these having Chinese surnames, Jamie Lim, Theodore Chong Sy, Nelson Chua, these all being big names in the Racing Pigeon world there and having the birds myself I was to meet these guys and even Judged their annual Pigeon show for them, but to be brutally honest all these guys had little clue of the hobby and were just wee schoolboys playing at the game. Myself and another couple of Foreigners were to get involved in this but we were all to give up when we saw at first hand how they run things there.

    Any Foreigner that I have met that had lived there in PH even just a few years seem to share much the same view of the people as myself.

    Apart from what I have said about the people in the Philippines I did have a good time in the 8yrs I lived there and although the people are quite stupid in my opinion, mostly they were nice to me and treated me with respect, perhaps people in Authority were not so nice I'm sure they get their jollies making it difficult for the Foreigners and like to show their Authority.

    A few days ago the wife of my neighbours phoned me her Car a fancy BMW was not starting and she was stuck at our local fuel station, he was on the Golf Course, anyway I nipped up there and easily bump started this as it was on a hill, she has said this had been giving her a problem for quite some time, I told her to give it a run for 20mins and then take it to a Mechanic I know, it turned out to be the starter and not the battery, being a BMW this was an expensive repair job at £500.

    A day later the husband was to approach me to hand over a small present, I know this guy very well and for over 30yrs as we used to work for the same company he is 65yrs of age, now this was an opportunity I had been waiting for as I had some sound advice to give him.

    My advice to him was get rid of that fancy expensive to run BMW and also your expensive to keep Wife who is well past her sell by date anyway and replace both with younger Asian brands, both Honda and Toyota they are cheap to run using low octane fuels, most having low emissions and ULEZ compliant they give good reliable mileage at low cost, much the same applies to the Asian women they are also cheap to run just needing a couple of handfuls of low octane rice each day, from a cold start in the bedroom they are quick to warm up, they never get headaches and the rice gives them lots of energy so they are never too tired, they are much likes Martini Girls, anytime, anyplace, anywhere, added to all that they are very low on their emissions and ULEZ compliant, unlike the unreasonable Fire Breathing Dragons we have in this country who are loud in their emissions and Non ULEZ, if you want to have a jump at them that comes with a high financial penalty.
