Being so close to some of the best islands in the world when I visit the Philippines, I really should try and get round to visiting and experiencing these places. Tens of thousands of islands dot our planet’s oceans and seas. From New Zealand to the Philippines to South Carolina, these are the best of the best. The Philippines are having a moment. This year, three of the top 10 islands in the world, as decided by Travel + Leisure readers, are in this Asian archipelago. http://www.travelandleisure.com/worlds-best/2016/islands
Somewhat surprised at Cebu being there tbh. There are nice parts of course but as islands go there's a few i would rate in the caribbean.
When was that Dave? My lot are pushing to go back but I reckoned it would be totally spoiled by now. This was 2007 and 2006
Last year at Whitesand beach. We stayed at the Red Lobster hotel. My Girls cousin is a copper there, quite funny when we went out with him, all the crooks and scammers legging it.
That's a really crappy picture they have of Whitesands beach at Boracay, starting to look like Butlins When it looks like this it is heaven
Sure it wasn't the Red Coconut? It is a bit grubby but the surrounding area and beach make up for it, did the beach resemble my shots or the picture in the travel and leisure link? There are a lot of beach traders that can sometimes be pushy but I guess it will have gotten worse over the years.
Yeah Red Coconut that was the one. The beach is/was fairly clean and looked like your shots, its just that walkway between the beach and the hotels/bars etc that let it down. According to Kris's cousin, its the Arabs who get ripped off the most in Borocay. One scam is .... do you want to go snorkelling, scuba diving, reef surfing, etc etc ?? they show you pictures on a card. You say yes and its 3000 pesos each and you must pay half there and then. Then they will meet you next morning and take you on your tour. Yeah right !!!
Palawan is the place I want to see, but the resorts are not cheap and they don't look like they would cater all that well for kids.
That's always been the way they do business there, we were never let down in the old days, things may have changed though. Two separate trips this chap was very nice we just went for a run round the beach and the lad and his family in the second shot took us snorkelling another year without any problem arranged the night before.
That fencing is like a large windbreak and I think it does spoil things. It runs all the way along the perimeter off the trees
They put it up in late July it is a wind break and I can assure you it is needed, the proper surfing season starts around the end of June I think just as the rainy season starts.
The two beach shots were taken in August 2006 and 2007 it's not there all year round or at least it wasn't in the old days Also August. This was April
White beach is about 4 miles long and yes Dave is right the fencing will run pretty much the full length, some of the hotels at the north and south ends are designed to provide a bit more cover all year round.
Should have posted this one to demonstrate other part of the year, I forgot I had this: I'm not on a boat, I'm actually in the water taking these shots
