Before you left the Philippines and settled in the UK, what else did you do?
    Example:
    1. Dental fix (if needed)
    2. Buying essential skin care not available in the UK.
    3. Bringing some Pinoy foods not found in the UK (like canned goods, and possibly some dried fish?)
    4. Organizing uni credentials

Feel free to include anything you did. I just want to know what else to do just to be sure I'm not missing anything. :D

    5. Say goodbye to the local variety of rice.

    - They usually only have Basmati and the Indian varieties.

    6. Say goodbye to the sun.
    7. Get use to the cold weather.
    8. Get use to not taking everyday baths (every other day instead).
    9. Get use to not smiling in public.
    10. Goodbye Jollibee.

Say goodbye to inefficiency, dangerous electrical systems, lousy quality plumbing (and practically everything else), pollution, garbage and guns.

Bring packs of dried goods (check our import regs though) rather than heavy cans, consisting mainly of water.

Almost all Filipino canned goods are available at specialist shops in the UK anyway. Ordinary stuff like Tuna, Pork Roll, etc... pretty much the same here as the Phils.

Since I started to work I got disgusted with Jollibee (sorry for the fans)

@tipipay you might want to visit an OB Gyne as well, some women take it for granted but it should be a regular thing to do. :)

The most things I'll bring with me are Kopiko packs that my Fiance and I love. Just in case no UK coffee can beat that for me. And my cousin said they're pretty expensive there - Filipino products.

My suitcase will be full of coffee and fruit salad ingredients that I will be preparing for Christmas, I might include some clothes. Haha

Ah, the 'essential' skin care so that you can look like Michael Jackson.

The cold weather will mke our skin dry so bringing a lotion would be good. Add lip balm in your list, I had horrible wind burns and dried lips in Japan and no lip balm fixed it. :(

That's something that my Fiance and his parents ask me about Philippines' whitening products. Like why Filipinos are obsessed to look white when brits hate being pale.most soaps you'd see in the supermarket here has whitening enzymes and he's afraid to use them for the fear that he might turn invisible. Lol

I am Morena and he appreciates my olive and less hairy skin. That's how he makes me appreciate myself even more.

But I'll be carrying with me a Skinwhite papaya "flavor" not for whitening reason but moisturizer and we both love its scent.

True! I cant find a single whitening stuff over there. I have learned to love my morena complexion a few years ago when i realized my european colleagues are killing themselves in an attempt to get a tanned look and we dont even have to make an effort!

    In addition,
    - Hairstylist appointment
    - dermatologist (its cheaper to get prescription skin care that will last around 6 months)
    - bank stuff, i.e. you might want to open a bank account? Or inform the bank that you are travelling, or cancel that credit card
    - provide your family your contact details (I suggest writing it down and keeping it somewhere safe). I know there is internet but celfones can be stolen, accounts can be hacked etc,)
    - reminders on where your stuff are kept/hidden in case it needs to be sent abroad
    - alerts on any dues that needs to be continually paid (real estate taxes, insurance or investment contributions)

Oh btw, go enjoy those massage if like getting them. Those are expensive over in the UK (or anywhere outside pinas)

I say immerse yourself in British culture and do not bring anything with you, if we don't have it in the UK then its not worth having, that includes dry fish :)

Lots and lots of people smile and greet each other in the street in smaller towns, not so in the big cities like London.

Great advice @joi1991 . Never thought of this until now. I will surely do while I'm still covered with my work's healthcare.

Awww, coffee. I love coffee. Vietnam's coffee is fantastic, I swear!
It's the food that matters after all!

That's the reason why my fiance moved back to Manchester from London. He lived and worked in London for a few years and decided Manchester is for him. :D

You got me laughing! Not a fan of whitening products and I would say I have a fair skin, thanks to my Chinese grandfather. Not your typical Pinay. When I was in Vietnam and Singapore, people thought I'm a local. :D

We live in a small town north of Manchester and it is certainly a world apart from London, much better for a Filipino in my opinion.
