    Hi All,

I am trying to find a reasonably priced travel insurance in Philippines with Covid cover for UK. Is it still required out of interest? AXA is coming in at 20,000php for Adult and Child. Correct me if I'm wrong but that is a rip off for a couple of months.

Not being a Victor Meldrew but any alternatives welcomed.

Check your small print... Seem to remember them saying annual but limiting mine to X individual trips of Y days - 30 or 14 or something I don't remember - suspect it depends on the individual policy.

Might be worth looking at annual health insurance. Think we used IMG global years ago. I cant remember exact cost but as needed 6 months coverage was attractive. Had advantage that would cover philppines on return. That was hospital only and UK based company.

Never had to claim which is the real test on these things so cant say how good.

With annual multi trip insurance need to check on max trip duration as when I used to have one it limited time on single trip to about a month.

Checking some of older posts and not entirely sure on when in year coming, how long for and when applying for spouse visa.

Radical idea might he to make daughter a resident for period when here. If during school year put her into school here, register her with GP and you claim child benefit. Can take her off all of them when returns to philippines for wife to do spouse visa assuming that is fairly soon after return. Document when leaving that accompanying mother back to Philippines whilst applying for spouse visa. Also gets her used to UK school. Might annoy schools when pull her out to go back but lot to be said for not missing a lot of school. Wont have great choice on schools. Also as british should be at school when in country.

We didnt have that option when kids were here when we got married for six months as they were on visas but given choice I would have put in school.

I believe by checking, international travellers do not need covid covered travel insurance to enter UK now? Anyone verify this ?

Most reputable companies now have it written in as standard nowadays.

It is recommended any traveller travelling anywhere gets suitable travel insurance, most now have inclusive of vivid, we found exceptions and add ins to be participating in extreme sports and gadget values.
COVID I guess is now seen as “the way the world is” and is pretty much standard in all policies!
Don’t forget Travel insurance covers all eventualities not just illness!
There are some issues with your families travel that would be best covered by travel insurance.

There is another side to your situation that intrigues me but it’s not for this thread!

I agree, very true. Not sure what side of my situation is intriguing. I just really don't think 20,000php is a fair price for 2 months insurance in any country. One must save the penny's, cost of living crisis... right I'm off for a pint.

The covid pandemic is ongoing :)

I was only confirming the verification you requested that international travellers no longer need covid cover, I don't believe there was ever a specific covid insurance cover requirement in the UK because the conditions you had to satisfy were so strict that you could not arrive here with covid.

    Entering the UK: Overview - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Travel Insurance for healthcare for UK visitors is an advisory not a requirement, there is no mention of it in the above link.

However it would be insanity to travel to the UK without insurance, I bought travel insurance for Ana when she visited the UK in 2007 and 2010 however I am pretty sure that it was not valid because I bought it in the UK even though I explained to the insurance company what I was doing I think they didn't understand and the insurance would have been invalid if we had to claim.

It does no harm to have travel insurance documents to show at the border when arriving as well.

I agree with John (Mattecube) covid cover is pretty standard now, I also agree with Br28016 register your daughter here with the NHS and a GP, get her an NHS record, get vaccinations she needs while she is here, this is your chance to do it she's British do all the things that you can to get her grounded in the UK even if she leaves again later and loses immediate rights to the NHS you have all that for her when she is here and she will get that back if she ever comes back here and is resident.

Apart from that the travel insurance is for all other eventualities, while health is one of the most expensive issues there are many other potentially expensive issues as well.

    Hi OSS

Thanks for the advice. As always you all clarify things and it makes it a lot easier to plan ahead. Of course I will take out travel insurance, would be insane not too, especially in these times and family must always be protected from any unseen events.

I will take on-board all the comments and take steps to ease my Daughter into UK life as suggested.

    Thanks all, much appreciated.

I have just typed in a woman aged 41 travelling with a 13 year old child, no existing medical conditions, annual multi trip visiting the Uk and it has come up with 3 quotes that exclude cancellation varying from £81 to £88, then various quotes that include cancellation ranging from £96 upwards, maybe you could try these for a quote https://www.allcleartravel.co.uk/.

Thanks for your help Heathen, but it states it is only available for UK Citizens. My partner is Filipino, Child British.

I will probably have to pay 19,000php, best I can get for 2 pax.

Was doing some googling on subject and travel insurance is probably a philippines government requirement as opposed to uk requirement. Potential risk of being stopped leaving if dont have correct documentation.
