    Thanks OSS.

I think I would prefer to save the 84 quid and just get the 59 days extension at the Airport on arrival and then do the Hong Kong trip for another 59 days and so on and so forth.

Each to their own I suppose.

Further clarification, the visa that you can get by extending on arrival would have to be repeated if you left for a short visit to Hong Kong, the visa extension you get on arrival is not a multi-entry visa, you can't leave and return a couple of days later if you do, you are back to a 30 day visa-free period which you would again have to extend on arrival if you wanted 59 days.

It is easier to simply extend on arrival the first time then extend again at the BI office when you get close to your 59 day limit you can repeat that for a long time and it will be cheaper to do that than the cost of the flights to Hong Kong and back.

In my case many years ago I was going over 35 days at a time when the visa-free period was 21 days, I would then return to the UK and work for a couple of months then return to the Phils, the multiple entry visa was good for me at that time as I used it around 4 times a year, it was cheaper and less hassle than extensions.

my wife and i are now going for the settlement visa here in the uk...but i twice stayed in the philippines for 12 months at a time ...the easiest way i found of staying was ...when i arrived you get 30 days took a trip to boracay island to stay for several days ..day one apply for extension to visa thats another 30days ...day two apply again this time its about a 60 day extension ...day 3 apply again another 60 days ...it was very easy and quick i used to get 6 months at a time ....the last time i done this was 18 months ago if things havnt changed i found this the best way to do it ..but its important its boracay island its full of tourists and they make life easy for extensions ...other places i tried where not so straight forward ....hope this helps

Yeah I'm not sure it would be so easy to do the extensions day after day in Manila.

Did you spend all of the 12 months time in Boracay :D ?

I think I was watching at the same time. Very scary stuff for someone with an innate sense of fairness to see how corruption turns everything askew.

Thanks for posting that. Perhaps those who have fallen in love with a (separated) married woman living in the Philippines should watch too, if only to serve as a warning of how things can take a very swift and very bad turn.

I also think a little birth control practice would have helped. It was maybe a little irresponsible to put her specifically in that situation though these things do happen.

I think that they both fell into the romance of their new love, and perhaps finding someone who actually loved them back. Easy to do perhaps. She had endured a sh1tty marriage, and he still drinks up the last of his cereal out of a bowl. Clearly never had a good woman to house-train him.

dying father, loveless violent marriage recipe for love and togetherness heady days easy to get swept up in it all. Total admiration ,him for not just walking away when he had the chance, her for turning back at the airport.

As said anyone thinking of involvement with a separated married women should think long and hard.

That said good luck to them in the future!

The husband deserved the $400 version I would take his attempt at extortion as "personal" :)

Yes. I think my conscience would have been cleared once he tried to take the daughter, just so he could put her in an orphanage out of spite.
