Hi! Just wondering if I can have my Master in Public Administration from Jose Rizal University assessed by NARIC? This is for the language requirement. Also, if they say they can't assess it, will they give refund? Thankyou!
It’s a long time ago now but I phoned them in about 2011 to enquire about my wife’s Bachelor degree and they explained that it would only be rated as an equivalent to a HND or something similar. On the other hand the woman who my wife used to live with for a number of years had a Bachelor degree in English at the University of the Philippines- Diliman in Manila and because of the quality of education provided by that university and the degree content it was considered as equivalent to a degree attained in the U.K. So it depends a lot on the nature of the degree itself and the university where it was sat. For some bizarre reason they didn’t even rate my wife’s degree for the purposes of a bye on the English Language Test. So my wife had to sit the English language test. Twice!

My wife had her Bachelors Degree in Nursing checked by NARIC this year. This was not for an Visa application mind - this was to check for equivalency in certain modules for a Health Care course in the UK. Nevertheless, surprisingly like JohnAsh mentioned - it was of an HND Grade 5 when compared. If that had been for an Visa application, I would of still done the GESE SELT Test. Wouldn't risk it.
Mind you I took my Masters Degree although not from the four prestigious universities in the Philippines. I submitted my documents few days ago as I thought what could go wrong, I heard they refund it anyway if they say they can't assess it. But thank you for the insight!
First Update: I received an email yesterday saying they can't proceed assessing my bachelors degree as the level of qualification is lower than British Bachelor degree standard. I submitted two qualifications though, they said they can do my master degree. Hoping for a positive result, will update you again when I get my certificate.
Hello! Second update: I received my result today. I got Bachelors (Honours) Degree and the level of English is CEFR Level B1, this means that I no longer need to sit down for the IELTS.
Gosh! Reading all of this visa processing nowadays made me think, they really made it difficult! I knew someone who hardly speaks good English didn’t even finished primary school and yet has British passport. I feel so sorry to you guys with all the hurdle you have to pass through. But I am sure, with determinations and all the efforts, you can do it!
