    Hello everyone!

I would like to hear some advice from you whether I should apply for a tourist visa or not based on my current situation.

I am in Bangkok and been teaching since August this year and the contract will end on March 2019 but then the school will give me another contract for a year. My boyfriend wants me to visit UK on March 2019 to experience what life would be there and to meet his family. He will be my sponsor when I visit him.

Last November 2017 my boyfriend visited me in the Philippines and we spent a week together in Manila, only a week since I was a customer service representative and it's not easy to file for a longer vacation leave.

Now, may I ask what are the chances of me getting a UK visa since I live in Thailand for less than a year? We say the legal documents are complete.

Hoping for a great advice. Thank you!

It shouldn't be a problem I suppose considering you are a resident in Thailand -- holding a Non-B visa, and a reason (job) to come back to, of course. It is more of a question whether you and your boyfriend have been in a relationship long enough, or have only just met; and if he has the financial capability to support you during your visit in the UK. Good luck with your application, though. :-D

With all visit visas to the UK the UKBA will look for reasons why you will leave the UK after or before your visa expires!
Having a job to go back to is a good start, you need to get your next teacher posting offer in writing and use it to demonstrate you will leave.Just telling them will not do get the offer on paper
They will look at if you own property back home and have strong family ties to return to.

In your case I would suggest the job offer and financial support are the big ones to demonstrate as you have been in living away from the RP in the not to distant past.

Hi @Mattecube , does the teacher posting offer in writing need a school seal or anything that could prove that I will still be employed in my school for the next school?

Also, I don't have any property in the Philippines under my name .

When you said "financial support" were you also referring to the fact that I can support myself at least even if I have a sponsor?

    Thank you

The offer should be on letter headed paper from the school if they can put a seal on it that may help.
Get them to put in the letter you have had a posting with them from ? To ? And your new posting will be from ?.
Do they provide accomadation? If so get that put in.
Savings the more you have the better even if your BF is inviting you.
Will you stay at his place?

Thank you. I'll include that on my list. Yes, the school provides accommodation.

Does the savings need to be like in a hundred thousand or it would still depend on our itinerary?

Also, I would like to clarify, do I need the proof where did the money from my savings came from? I mean like from my salary and other sources?

We are planning to stay in a hotel. Probably in a county side.

Yes provide bank statements as these will do 2 things prove your income and show your savings.
How much savings is hard to say as yes it depends on what your doing, how long you are staying for, what your BF will pay for and stuff like that! What they are looking for is that you have enough funds for your trip

Thank you so much for the help.

I will be visiting him for a couple of weeks. Actually, I don't have much savings yet but he offered to pay for everything for the both of us when I get there. But I will be paying for the tickets.

I can only give you an example of my then Fiancees own visit visa application which was refused.
She applied for a visit visa back in the middle of 2017, I was her sponsor and her Fiancee at that time, I put in excess of 100,000 Php into her account prior to the application, She was going to stay with me while she was here, except on some occasions we would stay at overnight Hotels on the occasions we might have been travelling around the Uk, I would have provided all her financial support while she was here. I would buy her return flight tickets, so we thought all the financial aspects were covered.
My then Fiancee worked on the family farm as and when needed, but did not have any verifiable income except the Farms crop receipts, the only property was/is in her mothers name, she did have a supporting letter from her mother saying that she worked on the family farm, and some crop receipts, she also had a supporting letter from me stating that i would support all of her needs while she was in the Uk, that i was indeed her Fiancee, and there would be no need for any support whatsoever from UK government funds..
The reasons given were that the cash in her bank account had only recently been deposited, and that they didnt believe the 100,000 Php in her bank account was hers to use (or words to that effect). That they have no reason to believe that she would return to the Philippines at the end of her visit, therefore the application was rejected. That was not the exact wording of the refusal, but basically thats what was said.
So in your application i would put particular empathis on your Job (future) credentials, as in MY opinion your savings may not be a strong point in your application, as any savings need to be in your account for some time.. hopefully our own experience may be able to help you and others, Good luck.

A fairly typical path of refusal sadly!
The OP is able to demonstrate a job to return to which is good, not only is it a job it has accommodation with it!
One of the worst things you can do,in my opinion is throw a heap of money into an account it looks like a sugar daddy payment.
Your savings will be key and also showing them coming in each month is better than one lump some!
It is always difficult to obtain a visit visa

Hi Pearl , as above , it will be much better if you or your bf can start putting money in to your account , and building up your savings gradually ,rather than a lump sum .

If you can start to do that soon , that will give you six months of savings by March .There seems to be no set amount of savings that they like to see, but make sure there is plenty to cover the cost of flight tickets plus living expenses if you are paying for flights .

I stated on our application ,that I would be paying for return air ticket ,so we needed less in gf bank account .

Hey there! I got my UK TOURIST VISA in Bangkok as well. The application is direct and simple .
    1. Bank statements (6 month) if you have a thai bank it’s only 200 baht for the statement . I suggest you get a thai bank because it’s easier since you’re planning to go in March
Even if you have a sponsor, you should however prove that you can support yourself as a tourist .
    2. Letter of Employment ( please include that the school recognize that you’re going on a holiday in the UK ) and that you’re coming back in Bangkok after.
    3. Pay slips (6-3 months)
This is important as it proves your employment
    4. Work permit / Visa (make sure it’s all extended )
    5. Include cover letter explaining your relationship and reason to visit UK (for tourist visa with a sponsor ) let your boyfriend make his own cover letter.

    6. Last June ( they didn’t require for you to provide booking reservation and picture )

    7.

That’s based on my application experience. I did the same thing twice and I got the visa . Now I’m waiting for my Fiancé visa (hope to get it soon ) .
