Will, to be honest you are right to doubt that you can get married in the time available - if you look down some of the other threads, the bureaucracy involved in marrying in the Philippines can be very frustrating.

Allow the necessary time to get a passport for your new addition to the family.

I got married in a 10 day period in the Philippines. It is do able. However, the amount of time you seem to have then it is easily do able. You just need to get your UK CNI in the UK before your trip and then book an appointment with the UKBA in Manila so that you can exchange your UK CNI for a local one.

Your wife will need to have organised the wedding venue etc which I seem to recall you will need to know before you apply for the CNI in the UK.

hi john ash my situation at the present time is that my wife is in the process of spouse visa application at nearly all our documents are in place there , at the office of the olvis imigration consultants in cebu city , i am currently in the process of compiling the required documents that they sent a list of 8 to my email , i have just completed my statement of support which i hope to return to them along with bank statements tomorrow , my problem is i have sufficent income threshold with my self employed accounts to sponsor my wife , but it is also our wish to sponsor her son mark who is coming up to the age of 16 in october , but there is a shortfall in my year ended 2013 accounts of £ 1585 to reach the required threshold of £ 22 400 to also sponsor her son , do you know if i can use savings to reach this threshold so that even if he cannot join us when my wife hopefully gets her spouse visa maybe he can join us asap in the near future thank you paulejani .

I believe it is possible to use savings in the way you suggest. But unfortunately I am not totally familiar with that alternative approach so I cant quote you figures. Your shortfall isn't very large eh...so close...I believe you cant simply say well I have £1585 in the bank so that's the shortfall dealt with, I think there is more to it than that...

Somebody, hopefully, will clarify this but I believe that in order to be able to use savings to support the application in any way at all you will need to show savings amounts significantly ABOVE £16000.

    Example:

Take this example where the applicant's partner has a gross income of £15000
    The shortfall in income is £18600 - £15000 = £3600

To make up for this shortfall and to qualify under the Financial Requirement the amount of savings would need to be:-

    £3600 x 2.5 = £9000
Then add this to the starting level of £16000 means £16000+£9000 = £25000

    In your case it would be 1585 x 2.5 = 3962.5

    £3962.5 +£16000 = £19962.5 in savings required.

thanks john and methersgate for your reply, john i will contact you over the weekend....cause i still have loads of question about the visa.

i have made appointment with my local council to get cni, which i get about 2 days before i fly, cause i know they only last for 3 months,
i also have made the appointent with the british embassy in manila on nov 27, to change the cni over to a local one....what really is confusing me is what they say on the ukba web page below..

"The local CNI will be issued the day after the twenty-one (21) clear day period has elapsed. This whole process takes 42 days"

does that mean, i have to wait 21 from changing over my cni for a local on, that would take me up to the 19th of december...then i have to give 10days notice to get married, that takes me up to the 30th jan............that gives me 15days to get married.

My understanding is that with current rules you exchange your UK embassy in Manila on the day of the appointment.

Here's the latest from the UKBA

How to proceed if you already have a CNI issued by a Registrar of Marriages in the United
Kingdom, or a British Embassy/Consulate Overseas

"The Registrar in the UK, or the Consular Official at the British Embassy/Consulate overseas, will require you to
appear personally before him. Your Notice of Marriage will have to be posted on his notice board for 21 days
before he can issue your CNI. When the procedure is completed, the Registrar in the UK will give you a CNI, which
you must present to the British Embassy Manila.

The local CNI will be available after your appointment if all the documents are in order and there will be no
requirement for you to re-visit the Embassy.

    IMPORTANT
An appointment must be made before attending the British Embassy Manila. Please visit
    http://britishembassymanila.clickbook.net/ to set an appointment.
If you turn up at the Embassy without an appointment, you will not be seen.
Failure to produce complete requirements will necessitate another appointment.
All Philippine certificates of birth, marriage, death and no marriage (CENOMARs) must be obtained from the
National Statistics Office (NSO) and must have been issued within three (3) months of your appointment,
with receipt/s attached. NSO certificates are on coloured paper with a blue NSO seal on the upper left-hand
corner. Original documents and/ or certificates issued by the local civil registrar are not acceptable.
For certificates written in a language other than English, a translation duly legalised by the Embassy of that
country should be presented. If legalisation was done in another country, a further legalisation by the British
Embassy in that country is required.

Photocopies of all certificates should also be provided for our records.
We will need to be satisfied about the authenticity of all documents submitted before we can issue a local CNI.
Please note that No Trace Letters from Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies cannot be exchanged
    for a CNI.

Please be aware: Under the Perjury Act (1911) it is a criminal offence to knowingly make a false declaration.
Offenders face the possibility of a fine and/ or a jail sentence.
The local CNI must be used within three (3) months of issue.2
If you have applied at another Embassy/Consulate overseas, the Embassy/Consulate will forward a copy of the
Notice of Marriage (NOM), properly endorsed, to the British Embassy in Manila. Once this is received, a local CNI
    can be issued.

You will need to make an appointment to collect the local CNI and will need to produce other documents. Or you
may authorise a representative to submit the application and collect the local CNI on your behalf.

"The local CNI will be issued the day after the twenty-one (21) clear day period has elapsed. This whole process takes 42 days"

Seemingly this applies "if you have not obtained a CNI issued by a Registrar of Marriages in the United
Kingdom, or a British Embassy/Consulate Overseas"

Yes. Exactly. No you dont have to wait a further 21 days unless "you have not obtained a CNI issued by a Registrar of Marriages in the United
Kingdom, or a British Embassy/Consulate Overseas"

In a nutshell, if you aquire your CNI in the UK then you simply make an appointment with the embassy in Manila and take your UK CNI with you. At the appointment give them the UK CNI and they will then give you a local CNI which is what you need to get married in the Philippines.

I had a problem that I needed to resolve with the UK embassy in Manila. I got the answer I needed by email. Phoning the embassy can be quite a challenge.
