Yes. We did exactly that but when we did it they hadn't implemented the appointment system. 2 years ago you could just turn up and they would issue it the local CNI following day.

hi john ash thanks for your reply and example i am glad to have made it this far in our relationship and now we have made a start with my wifes spouse visa application , i will just have to see how things work out regarding sponsoring her son , but i simply do not have that amount of savings if that is the case , and like you said so close because my year ended self employed accounts for april 2013 was 20,815 and the threshold to sponsor a child is i think 22,400 , maybe if i keep in work at try to get this years earnings up to that figure , we can try to sponsor him next year , but i don't even know what the outcome of my wifes application for spouse visa will be yet , but fingers crossed we can make it ok , and also i have yet to print off and complete the appendix 2 form and then return to olvis visa consultants in cebu , i was wondering if you have experienced filling out this form when ikaw sponsored your wife john , and also what part of the country are you from , i myself live in wickford in essex , i see your picture with the cute little girl is that your only child with your wife and where was your picture taken regards paulejani .

Thanks Paul. I was born in Ilford, Essex but now live in the Isle of Man. Yeah, thats our little girl, she is nearly a year old now. The picture was taken in Bath.

I was involved in the filling out of my wife's form but that was 2 years ago. The procedures have changed a little so I think the form will be a little different now.

Kuya, the forum owner, was succesfull with his wife's application and they between them, I suspect, filled out the said form after the rule change, so he at least will be conversant with that form.

Basically, if your circumstances and the paperwork your wife submits, comply with their requirements, then you have a great chance of a successful outcome.

ok thanks a lot for that information and congratulations to you and your wife with the birth of your little girl , i myself was born in hornchurch essex , not far from ilford and my mother was born in poplar as was my grandmother so have some east end blood , that is a nice place where you live there on the isle of man , is that near the channel islands , as being a keen angler i can imaging that being near the coast there it must be a nice place to live , and yes i believe we have nearlyall our requirements in place , and not forgetting the love and faith of my wife , who has been so understanding , and i always try to keep her up and happy because i know she struggles there at sometimes she gets down , and she is longing to have another child and i tell her when the time is right , so it has been a remarkable journey to come this far , and thanks for your help and information i will keep in touch , and plan to put our pictures on here , but i will need some help from my sister because my computor skills are lacking he he .

No. Isle of Man is a bit like the Channel Islands in the way it governs itself etc etc but it is in the Irish Sea off the coast of Liverpool. My wife's friend's husband is keen on fishing and I believe it is good for that.

Yes. Its a bit of a long slog with the visas but worth the wait.

Please let the forum know how you get on.

    Hi John,
when did they introduce those financial requirements? I know that sounds a bit daft, I know they applied financial requirements in the visa update. Our visa application also required the 18,600 requirement but I'm sure when we applied they said if you did not meet the required wage level then if you show evidence that you had at least 16000 saving that would be an acceeptable alternative to the wage requirement should it not be met. It was a flat savings level of 16k there was no maths logic applied to the the inadequate wage requirement. Well not as I recall anyhow.

This year I think. The £16000 stands but one the has to add from there. So I gather.

    From UKBA April 2013 :

7.1.6. At the entry clearance/initial leave to remain stage and the further leave stage, the amount of cash savings above £16,000 must be divided by 2.5 (to reflect the 2.5 year or 30-month period before the applicant will have to make a further application) to give the amount which can be used in meeting the financial requirement. The following equation is to be used:
    (x minus 16,000) divided by 2.5 = y

Where x is the total amount of cash savings held by the applicant, their partner, or both jointly for at least the 6 months prior to the date of application and under their control.
And y is the amount which can be used towards the financial requirement.

I have applied for my UK issued CNI and was waiting for other paperwork before booking the British Embassy appointment to issue a local CNI. Yesterday i checked the British Embassy website for available booking times and the earliest appointment was 29th November. I have no idea that it would take over 2 months to get an appointment. Anyway marriage on 29th December so all should be ok.

Does anyone know if we both attend the appointment at the Embassy or only me with both our paperwork?

Good move. Be prepared to wait a week for a response but they do respond eventually. I had to contact them about the isle of Man equivalent of the CNI as it is slightly different here. I did get the answer I needed, from them.

I also emailed the British Embassy. Here is their response: "As long as you bring along the required documents, there is no need for your fiancée to attend.

You can either arrange the pictures in Microsoft Word and print it on A4 size papers or print them in a photo paper and paste it in an A4 size paper.
