Sorry for the vague Post title, but I am both speechless - and apoplectic with rage - at the latest revelation I have discovered from gov.UK and the Visa4UK website...

We already know that applications for a Fiancee Visa have to be made from outside the UK - fair enough (kind of)! But...

Did anyone else know that the Visa4UK website application process DOESN'T SUPPORT Google Chrome beyond 2013; Mozilla Firefox beyond 2013; Microsoft EDGE not supported AT ALL; Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 NOT SUPPORTED (MSIE 11 recommended for Windows 10)???

This represents (in my opinion) a massive security risk, considering applicants can be (virtually) anywhere in the world.

Added to this, you cannot use the Visa4UK website from a handheld device (Tablet/phone).

Looks like my Fiancee won't be joining me in the UK after all!!!

Can't you just go and buy a 2nd hand dino-laptop?

For a web developer, supporting all browsers isn’t always possible from a practical point of view. Invariably they focus on the popular 2 or 3 browsers. Trying to “shim” fit all browsers just takes too long. My preference is to develop for Chrome and Firefox. Who would develop for IE these days?

Im surprised that an organisation like Visa4UK who’s customers are so dependent upon their web server aren’t at least supporting the latest versions of the most popular browsers, poor show!

IE does have the ability to be backward compatible. Use F12 and set the browser to an older version, that may work or load an older version of Chrome or FF just for the purpose of processing on their site.

The person has to be outside the UK! I did my wife's application on her e mail sign on and I never left Somerset.

Could do - but that won't necessarily solve the ridiculously limited 'supported browsers' issue! TBH, I wouldn't even know how to roll-back a browser to a FOUR YEAR-OLD version anyway... & should a Government dept be using such antiquated security/technology?
I guess to some people £250 for a laptop isn't much against £8000-10,000 for settlement, but it's a sizeable sum before you even start...!

Granted - but FOUR YEAR-OLD versions of 2 of the main browsers? For a Government dept who insist you use their website? Poor show, indeed...
I might try the F12 trick with IE, IF we can sign in at all!

Is there a way to download, or roll-back to, 'old' versions of Chrome?

That does answer 1 question - I was wondering if the account was locked because I tried logging on from a different location? Apparently not...!

I googled the problem and found an archive of previous versions of Chrome.

I think you would need to uninstall Chrome first, then install and make sure that updates are switched off. There are a lot more tech-savvy blokes than me on this forum. Perhaps they could help.
