When we go to the UK mainland I try to show Mrs Ash something from our British heritage. We have been blessed with a lot here in the UK and its good for her to see it firsthand. Plus, good for the nipper, though at 2.5 yo she was a bit young.

He has done you proud, I was going to say that Barrow is a bit of a dump but I didn't want to hurt your feelings :D

You're doing really well for a newcomer, many Filipinas including my wife would not go for so many outdoor activities as you have, as you say, it is cold, I used to love camping out when I was younger, I especially like the smell of the grass when you wake in the early morning.

Good to hear you are adapting well to our fine country :)

I have no knowledge of the German or Italian embassy for Schengen visas. I guess it will be the same. I base that on the Portugese Consulate taking about a week too, when we applied in 2013

Is it true to say that for example you get a visa for France that you will be allowed to travel throughout the adjoining countries on the same visa?

Ohhhh i just read it. I just want to clear it.

The Schengen Visa is a uniform Visa, which allows the holder to travel as a tourist to or through the following countries within its validity: Austria, Belgium,Czech Republic,Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

------ so i will only apply in Spain as our main country to visit. If ever we go to Germany i can use my Schengen Visa too, no need to apply another Schegen Visa in Germany consulate? Am i right?

We only applied for a Schengen visa for one country only. So that was simple.

However, lets say you wanted to visit Spain and Portugal, you would state that in your application and apply to the country you intend to visit first, thereby applying for one Schengen visa only. Thats my understanding.

I am guessing (could be wrong) that the visa only applies when travelling overland to another country.

Or could you for example jump on an plane from Germany to Spain for example using the initial visa?

I think i know what you mean.

Strictly speaking you would need the Schengen visa to cover every country you visit, regardless of mode of transport. But yes, you could easily flit across borders by car, but not legally.

    This fees is right??

The administration fee is £ 47.40 (the equivalent to €60). Non-refundable. Payment has to be made in cash only.Visas will be issued free of charge to the spouse and/or children of European Union Citizens if compliance with requirements.

Children older than 18 years old and stepchildren are not excluded of the Visa Fees.

Children under six are exempt of visa fees.
Citizens of the following countries only:

Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, The Republic of Montenegro, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, The Republic of Serbia, The Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, and Russia have a special agreement with the EU.

The price of the Visa for these applicants is £ 27.65 If you wish a Fast Track Visa (The Visa is ready on the same day of the Application) the price will be £ 55.30.
Fast Track System applies the countries mentioned above only.

I really thought it also cost as hundreds ...

    Timmers, Shengsei

See this. My understanding must have been wrong....

"A multiple-entry Schengen visa allows you to enter into the country which issues you the visa, and you may then travel freely throughout all Schengen countries. It is assumed that you will spend most of your time in the country which issued the visa to you, but it is not a requirement. Some countries are much easier to obtain a Schengen from, in practice, although the process is supposed to be standardized."

    Apologies there.
