Hi. I am just wondering how long it took for the whole process to finish (biometrics, submission of documents) and if they really do just scan the docs now and return them afterwards? Thanks.

Shouldn’t take more than an hour but that depends to the number of applicants in that day. I don’t think they scan the documents and just return them, I would imagine that it would take ages to actually scan all the documents (unless someone who experience it could tell us).

The submission of documents etc doesn’t take long , but you could be there quite a lot longer if it’s busy , or if like us ,you need to amend anything before face to face .

If you take copies of everything, there will be no need for scanning .

Thanks. The last time I was there, they just took all documents. But now I am wondering, because they changed the process based on what I've read on the website.

Anyway, this time I printed the barcode separators as it is apparently a requirement now to all categories of visa except for settlement. I photocopied everything to A4 but of course I am still going to bring a separate copy of the original documents. My question now is, should I separate them from the A4 photocopies or include them altogether?

    Thank you so much.

So the wife is going to get her and her daughters biometrics done on Thursday. We finally got all the court documentation we needed.

She asked me if she needs to take passport photos with her? I know when she did her tourist visa there was no need. Can anyone give me advice on that?

Sure you are settlement visa as opposed to visitor visa

On settlement visa visit requirements from memory are the printed out application form and sure needed one photo for wife. Dont think they kept photo for kids.

Seem to remember there is photo booth machine there anyway.

We took two envelopes , one with application form and original documents , separated by barcode separators on A4 paper .

Second envelope contained copies of everything, also separated by barcode dividers on A4 paper .

Did you submit both? And did they actually check if everything was on A4 paper? Again, just a few months back when I went there, they just took my documents without even checking it thoroughly. Just asked if I had an original document and they returned it to me on the spot. :)

    Thanks again for the reply.

Hi @OTT, are the barcode separators will serve as "title page" for certain documents?
Also I would like your advice regarding the documents from a sponsor (my boyfriend). Can he just scan and send them through e-mail?

We're planning to send the application next week.

I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks

Hi Pearl , yes the barcode separators each have a title to say which documents follow it .
Application form first , then sponsorship form , Bank statements, pay slips etc behind ‘Financial’ heading , etc . We put things like birth certificates , photos, WhatsApp chat , at the end under the ‘other information ‘ headings.

If your bf scans and sends documents , it should be ok . My son e mailed my utility bills , and we got them copied onto A4 paper . I’m not sure if they insist on A4 , but we did it anyway.

Good luck with your application . Which VFS office are you visiting ?

@OTT thank you so much for the helpful information. I am worried that the invitation he sent me through email won't be accepted cos it's just scanned.

Yes, documents need to be in A4 size paper. I will be visiting the office in Bangkok since I am currently working in Thailand.

Hi Pearl, for my experience here in VFS Malaysia to apply standard visitor visa. I applied July 2017 & 2018.
It didnt take me long to submit my documents. They're not busy. Only 10 minutes all together. The submission and for my biometrics.
I had 2 folders with me. The originals docu and the photocopies docu. They took my originals. And returned my photocopies. Documents should be in A4 size Paper.
I received my documents thru abx courier only 5 days. And got my visa for 6 months multiple entry!
Been to UK July & December 2017 & 2018 for holidays with my hubby.

@Via thank you for sharing your experience.

This is my first time to apply and I hope I'll get approved.

On my end I will submit supporting docs. such as certificate of employment, payslips, bank statements, and cover letter.
My boyfriend will send me his documents through email. The documents will be his payslips, cover letter, bank statements, and invitation letter.

May I ask what additional documents we should add?
