i think its £600 for settlement spouse visa--as its valid for 33 months--so the extra £100 is charged for those 3 extra months.

3 years is 36 months so in theory you are paying for 33 months only plus any lapse of time during validating visas

You may have found a bug in their system allowing you to pay in gbp. Looking at link you sent not supposed to pay that way.

    When you must pay
If you’re making your immigration application online or through a premium service centre, you pay the surcharge as part of your application or when you book an appointment.

If you’re applying by post, you pay the surcharge online before you send your application. You’ll need to include the IHS reference number on your application form.

You get charged for any part of a six month period. So if 30 months get charged 500, 31 to 36 months get charged 600.

haha erm no! I did it on line in all 3 instances, spouse visa, FLRm and child dependent, you can go to the NHS website obtain your number and provide it,if I recall correctly when you are applying it asks have you got the number if so you supply it then or it redirects you.

If you did it through the links you sent then you did it outside the online visa application process. That may explain why you managed to get a charge in gbp.

As I said earlier you may have found a bug in their system saves others some money.

Definitely not how they want you to do it or part of their online application process. You might want to look at making it a sticky. That said you then have to bring in the reference number whereas their process does populate it in the application.

Nope I dont believe I have gone out of procedure in 3 instances, and must admit in my 3 +years on this forum it is the first time I can recall the surcharge having to paid in dollars being raised.
I think you need to accept that there is a legitimate way of paying the charge in ££ and you appear to of missed that opportunity it happens, no dramas no tears we move on.

    Good luck with your applications

The first part of the application should just be for 30 months is that correct (2.5 yrs) in which NHS Surcharge should just be charging £500 pounds but then when we are bout to pay NHS Surchage visa the Visa4UK online it turned up to USD810.. Which is confusing..Could someone explain as we were expecting GBP500 , aside the fact that we are paying in USD and amounting Higher as it is USD810. Thanks

It is actually 33 months. 2.75 years so rounds up to 3 years. 3 years is the £600. All the charges in USD are about 3 to 4 percent over the mid market rate to make sure UKVI does not lose any money when charging in foreign currency. Policy is that they charge in USD when applying from certain countries including the Philippines.

I have my view on how they do it and it is not a good one but that is the reason.

Think you can pay in £ but have to go do it separately to the visa application process and then feed in the IHS reference.

Visa application cost is also in USD and at a similar extra cost.

Applying now means that avoid the doubling of the charge in December.

Best of luck and hope your application goes well

    Hi again,
Can you tell us how we pay in £? Didn't quite understand what you say above. Also what is the doubling of the charge in December? We haven't heard about this. Thanks for your help by the way.

I didn't manage it as I followed the UKVI process through as they want you to do it.

Mattecube apparently managed to do it paying in pounds. Think you can use one of the links he posted earlier in this forum to make the payment and generate an IHS number which you then feed into the application. Not tried so can't guarantee how sucessful it is.

Maybe mattecube can post a detailed explanation of how he did it and what you need to do.

Depending on which credit card you use paying in pounds will save you between 30 and 60 pounds. I don't believe there is any way of dodging paying the visa fee in dollars.

There is a plan to double the IHS charge and this is supposed to take place in December at which point it will go up to £400 per annum. Think it still needs approval in parliament but expected to happen.

Didn't just manage to do it done it 3 times successfully! But that debates been had.
Follow this link, you will note the header talks about immigration therefore makes it all cosher.
When you get to the pay now bit you will have to registrar then follow instructions
Done paid in ££ no extra cost.
The number you get you will have to supply in your NHS section on the applicatioon

    Hi Mattecube
