Just trying to work out the best option for health insurance, until after we are married...

Booked nearly everything. Room, band, cake , dress. Room and the band will be the biggest losses.

    Ouch! I feel for you...

That's the ridiculousness of having to provide proof of intention to marry, without knowing if - or when - you will get a decision! We applied mid-February with the intention of getting married in September, if the decision came through by mid-May. We only got our (positive) result this week, so now looking at a wedding in January. Luckily, our financial outlay has been minimal - just the inconvenience of having to re-arrange dates, etc...

Yeah. I am most concerned about an unexpected pregnancy (there was a case mentioned on here some time ago, I remember) and the ante-natal costs involved - accidents do happen! That and any GP consultation & prescription costs...

    Meanwhile today..

    Dear Kevin,
I can see that the priority application has been escalated 3 times and the last escalation to the relevant department was on 23/08/18.
I appreciate you have been very understanding and patience but I can inform you that it could be up to 15 working days from the last escalation on the 23rd August 18 for the relevant department to be in contact with you.
    Kind Regards

Not answered by someone who is fluent in English, I think its a Dubai centre.

    My answer

That means that escalation is pointless then doesn’t it? Why do you charge for a pointless service? I paid for priority Service and am now over 70 days.

After we waited for 15 days for escalation they never emailed us back even if we emailed them. They only reply to us once we have the decision that's 20 working days after escalation. I don't think "escalation" means anything tbh

I just checked the Fedex number and the passport is on its way back, arrives in Cayman on Friday. No emails, no texts. Same as the visitor visa so not worrid about that... totally twitching now

'Escalation', in itself, is just an exercise in UKVI buying time for themselves - I'm yet to see any evidence that it has any effect on an application!
Priority Service application is a different matter, although the value of the service - balanced against the cost - is diminishing by the day...

We have officially moved the wedding to January the 19th now. The only loss so far is the registrar fee and maybe the band deposit. £125 at the moment. Everyone else has rescheduled and carried their deposits over. The passport was due back tomorrow but has not changed on Fedex to Monday.... I assume we have the visa, I hope we have the visa.
