It was pulled together in a hurry with little thought. It doesn’t have a deep seated meaning at all but a clue would give the game away.

Green and amber lists could go in travel rules shake-up https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-58491245

“One of the key demands from industry bosses is the removal of Covid testing as a necessity of travel back to the UK, which they say puts customers off booking due to cost.”

Well that's bloody useless, there are countries on the red list that have demonstrably less incidence of Covid than the UK currently, including the Philippines where the big concern was the Theta variant and nothing came of that but no reversal of status.

Tim Spector pointed out the idiocy of the traffic light system last week in light of both the official UK data and his ZOE study which shows higher incidence than the Government data.

Good news for those anticipating travelling to Europe at half term. The tests before the return journey are to be scrapped. Potentially the traffic light system is likely to be scrapped.

“Double-jabbed travellers will no longer have to take expensive PCR Covid tests when returning to the UK, the Government is poised to announce.”

From everything I have read so far they are almost definitely going to keep the red list, if they do keep the red list then I am not travelling this Christmas, if they scrap it too then I will pay whatever I have to in Manila for their quarantine, I can afford for it to cost me a little money and 10 days but not huge money and 20 days.

I never buy a newspaper these days. Tell a lie though as I get a digital copy of the Torygraph.

We will see tonight. They say he isn’t ruling out a winter lockdown.
