I wanted to share our special day last friday. This forum has been very helpful and i wanted to give a few tips. We tried to be below our budget as much as possible. Here are the breakdown of our expenses: - dress 350 (would be cheaper if you can buy in ph, but it is something i can use again on a date night) - kilt rental 100 - wedding ring 275 - reception (night do) 315 (100 for the function and 215 for buffet food) - license and ceremony room at city chambers 100 - invitation including postage 35 - hair and makeup 65 (i didnt mention i was the bride, said i was attending a wedding as a day guest. I tried following wedding tutorials from youtube but im hopeless) - decors 20 (hobby craft for some baloons, candles, banners) - flowers 20 (from supermarket and assembled it myself) - hotel at city center 80 (was updated when we told them it was for a wedding) - photo was a wedding gift by a friend - wedding lunch was a gift by my father in law We also told everyone of the guest for cash as wedding presents so we can use it for the wedding in ph or for the flr (m) application.
Sounds like a good Scottish wedding Maley You both look absolutely great I've never been married but if I ever do it will be in a kilt, I've always loved the idea of the kilt, last time I wore one I was 4 years old and I am rather old nowadays. My sisters wedding added up to about that much 44 years ago, some of us Scots are quite pragmatic when it comes to wedding celebrations

Kilt is the way to go, plus its a good conversation starter. We both agreed to make it simple since none of my family can make it to the UK in time and even if they are here, majority of the expenses for a wedding arent that important anyway (One of his friend spent 12k£ and now midway through his divorce). (We also agreed to have a big celebration on our 10th, 25th or 50th wedding anniv since that is a reason to celebrate)
He wants to wear one in Philippines. I am trying to discourage him since im not from the 'cultured' part of ph
I mentioned to my fiancée that I thought about wearing one. Her reaction was "your joking right" haha
The kilt is elegant, and the dress versions i.e. every modern kilt can be worn in a warm climate...... with a t-shirt Your nethers might get a wee bit hot though If I were ever mad enough to get married in the Philippines I would get married in a kilt, no matter how painful it might be (heat) it would be traditional and it would look great in the pictures. Must have happened hundreds of times in the Phils, our membership here will only be a tiny fraction of the number of Scots that have ever been married int eh Philippines.

Depends on the weight of the fabric I already stated that I have not worn the kilt since the age of four, so the truth is I would not know, however my mind combines my experience of the Philippines with my imagination of a potentially heavy fabric and comes up with discomfort I would really like to try the kilt in the Philippines and I may well do so one day, I would likely purchase one in Edinburgh but all modern dress kilts bear little resemblance to the great kilt, with the modern kilt being but the bottom part. The great kilt would really not work in the Phils in my opinion
The Great Kilt (aka "the whole nine yards" (of plaid!)) most certainly would not be practical in the Philippines climate!
