We asked the place to prepare it. Its actually a bar with a function hall at the basement. The bar food they served is actually very decent. As my husband was telling me, its easier to use them since they have the license to serve alcohol, play loud music and we can have the place from 7pm to 1am.

I just realized that scottish ppl doesnt eat a lot on night event (nearly everyone had dinner before coming over).

    Thanks Maley - most helpful.

Is very possible we'll end up doing something similar and the venue I have in mind is usefully also licenced for civil weddings so we could do everything under one roof.

As to your final comment about Scots and food --- I can tell you that many of my compatriots get their "nourishment" in liquid form - with a 3am kebab to follow!

I'm too old for such revelry - can't handle the hangovers any more!:(

Thats going to be a good choice.

dont let the supplier's know that it is a wedding. It seemed that they double the price as soon as that word comes up (we just said its for engagement party). And im okay with the fact that its not 'conventional' place for wedding reception.

Lastly, If you can make it a friday, its going to make the reservation easier (Its my mother-in law's 70th this june and we are finding it difficult to book something for the family on a weekend).

Im still trying to 'educate' my husband by planning busy day after a night of drinks.
