What does 'month' actually mean when calculating the financial side of the spouse visa?

Hello friends, I was hoping somebody could bring some clarification to the way the entry clearance officers calculate your salary for the spouse visa.

I understand they do it from your lowest earning month.

I just don't understand what they mean by month. Jan has 31 days, Feb has 28.

Will it mean that which is earned between Jan 1 to Jan 31 for Month 1, and from Feb 1 to Feb 28 for Month 2?

And if a work week crosses over into the next month, that would then count towards the next month and not the current?

On my current payslips it doesn't say the days I've worked. So how will they know which days I've worked and what month they fall under? It says tax period, is that anything to do with it?

Or is it based off four 7 day periods and what is earned within them?

Because I will work 4 on 4 off and that doesn't really fit into that. (this starts Jan 4th)

I know exactly how many days I work in each month and based off that, I know how much I would make within the month.

    Jan. 16 days. 1,935
    Feb. 16 days. 1,935
    Mar. 19 days. 2,298
    Apr. 13 days. 1,572
    May. 18 days. 2,177
    Jun. 12 days. 1,451

Most wouldn't matter, but April and June would be affected by how this is calculated.

I know this is a long windy question so thankyou to those who took the time to help. And Merry Christmas to you all!

    Hi and welcome.
    2 points:-
In your employer letter get your company to state you are on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

Pay calculations they will take your year to date earnings divide by the number of months YTD and multiply it by 12
    or
they can take your YTD earnings as a total and take the lowest month times that by the remaining months and add that total to your YTD to give a figure, as long as that's above the threshold your fine your figures above you have earned above 11k so far over 6 months your lowest month is 1452 multiply by 6 equals 8700 add that to the 11 so approx 20k year turn out.

BTW where are August through to November's figures?
    Hope this helps!

Hi mattecube and thankyou very much. I'll reply more later cos at work now hiding away in the toilets reading your response. My August to Nov would follow the same pattern as the prior 6 months. I just didn't calculate them cos after these 6 I'll be applying for the visa. Got 2 weeks of in August so hoping to have the visa sorted by then so I can head over to Phil and bring my wife over. (will have to pay for the highest priority visa I guess) But yes friend, it helps a great deal so thankyou very much. I'll study your message more when I'm home. Take care.

Hi friend, one more quick question whilst its still fresh in my mind, if you've got a moment, I currently work shifts, normal weeks 5 days in 2 days off, my December pay will be 1,580.can I count this toward the 6 months since its still at the same place and above the target? Its just a change of shifts and pay coming into force in Jan.
Thankyou very much for your help friend.

They (UKBA) will want to see 6 months Pay slips prior to the application date, the last one being no older than 28 days prior to the application date!
On the visa front you need to be aware there are a number of things your wife needs to do prior to the application, also you mention going over and bringing your wife back with you, you need to be aware that even priority visas can take a number of weeks before a decision is reached.

dont go booking any flights yet.

when she gets her visa--she will be given a time frame in which to come over ..it was a month--but there was a recent case on here where the travel window was longer, Best if you can make your holiday entitlement flexible.

Hi home from work now, I've had chance to look at this properly.

    Aug 8d. 6d hol. 1,571
    Sep 16d. 1,935
    Oct 16d. 1,935
    Nov 16d 1,935
    Dec 11d. 6d hol, 1,934

Those are the last months, all above 1,550. So that's no issue.

    Dec 2020 - may 2021 total pay
    = 11,517 ÷ 6 = 1,919
    ×12 = 23,034

    Jan 2021 - Jun 2021 total pay
    = 11,368 ÷ 6 = 1,894
    ×12 = 22,736

Jan 2021 - Dec 2021 full year total pay
    = 22,129

And even if they decided to do 1,451×12=17,412
I'd need 1,200×2.5=3,000+16,000=19,000 in savings which I will have by this months end.

So I guess in all cases I would be ok right, the latter is less optimal though but the entry officer would most likely use the first calculation since 4 on 4 off doesn't follow the weeks of a month. Would this be the case?

But yes I'll definitely have to get my manager to clearly state that I'm on 4 on 4 off.

Things are clearer now by far so thankyou kindly friend.

Hi friend, thankyou kindly for the info! For the payslips themselves, they're send via email. So would I have to print them all off and have my manager sign every one of them, then I would have to scan everything so it's back onto the computer again but with his signature? Or will a letter do just fine?

He's a stubborn man sometimes, I dare not imagine his look when I ask him to sign 24 pieces of paper.

I'm aware of the ielts test, TB test, and biometrics when necessary, nothing else springs to mind right now, is there anything more?

Yes OK I understand. It shouldn't take 1 month though right?

We can apply early July, and I think work closes on July 27, so maybe that's pushing it a little.
Could apply early June if I go the route of using the old shifts of December cos that pay is fine too, its just there's a salary change and shift change, dunno if that would be an issue.

Thankyou again for your help friend.

Hi thankyou for your reply friend. For this time frame, can it be specifically requested that the validity time frame fall under the month of August so then they'll make it valid for August instead of the immediate month? . So we won't have any problems.
And if the philippines decides they're going to cancel all flights again during that period, will they extend it because of the impossibility of travelling during that period?

My main reason for going is because when we went to Hong Kong we had a bit of problem with immigration, but in the end they let us pass. So she wants me there because she's worried there will be problems again.

I'm not too sure of the exact requirements for her to leave the country, will have a look early next year, but as long as she's got a visa and filled up that new health form thing, there really shouldn't be any problems right? The idea of an interview without me being present is a big concern of hers.

    Thankyou friend.

i dont know if you can ask for a specific period for her travel vingnette---best not to ask for anything which might delay the visa--thats the important thing.

she will need a TB test certificate to go with her visa application--those are valid for 6 months--and must be valid at the time of her application. Is that what you mean by health form ?

she will need an approved english language test--IELTS a1

and--in order to leave the phlis--she needs to attend a one day course to find out all about the pitfalls of living away from home. ( its title escapes me ) EDIT--the CFO

You appear to be well within the financial zone regardless of which way it's cut that's a big plus!
In terms of paperwork ie bank statements and wage slips, letter headed documents are key no need to get them stamped or signed.
4 on 4 off has no bearing we are in a modern 24/7 work place what is key is a letter from your employer stating your name, job start date temp or perm and he could if he is willing give a calculation on your year end pay calculated as earnings to date plus basic for rest of financial year (I can send you a copy of mine if you wish!)
The employment letter is a required document and not to be mixed up with a letter of invite to your wife which is a supporting document.
Have you access to a pc for your own use?

Travel date,@bigmac is right travel dates subject to the visa being granted is a moving feast they do however on the application ask for a date of preferred travel although this is not a guarantee.

There are things that you can do whilst you are waiting as can your wife, how good is her English?
