    It will.

IoT not very complicated, every device has an http listener listening on either port 80 or a proxy port or a user defined port, built in wifi and in theory encryption.

The complicated bit is what questions will each device answer and what questions will it ask of other devices near or far. :D

Yes security and encryption are a real priority as we have seen with stuxnet, home webcams and printers. The possibilities are endless.

    Hi All,

I just want to ask how is it like working in the UK and bringing your family there with you? because my wife got an offer to work there as a nurse and she is now preparing for her IELTS. but we are still thinking whether it is a good step for us to move there as we have a son who is in Primary 1 now.

I have a lot of queries that I want to get answers and I was hoping I could get some if not all.
    - How easy it is for my wife to sponsor me and my son and how long it normally takes?
    - what is the cost of renting a house for a family of 3? or any better suggestion to save on rental
    - how much is the monthly expenses for food?
    - How much will it cost to send our son to school?
    - is it easy for IT professionals to get a job there?

Sorry for having too many questions as I wanted to at least have an idea have everything planned for me and my family to be together.

I hope you guys don't mind if I share a bit of my story so you would understand why I'm asking a lot of questions. I'm currently working as an IT Consultant here in Singapore, been working for so long for 8 years but couldn't get to sponsor my son and wife to be here with me as every year the minimum salary for dependants visa keeps going up. So we are thinking maybe the UK could be our chance of being together hopefully.

Hope to get some inputs from you guys here... Thank you in advance and God bless...

    Hi Ferdie,

    To answer your questions:

How easy it is for my wife to sponsor me and my son and how long it normally takes?
Once your wife has a work permit she can sponsor you to come over.

    - what is the cost of renting a house for a family of 3? or any better suggestion to save on rental
I would suggest to avoid London as it's expensive to live in.
Avoid Surrey as it's expensive to rent.
    Cambridge is also expensive.
Wales is cheaper, and Medacs are recruiting in October for Ipswich hospital.
If look look at rightmove dot com - you will see price to rent in the area that you are looking at.
    - how much is the monthly expenses for food?
You can eat from the supermarket Aldi, Lidl or Asda - these tend to be cheaper - going online can show you.
    - How much will it cost to send our son to school?
    School is free.
    - is it easy for IT professionals to get a job there?
Relatively depends on your skill set. You can always do IT Contracting.

In general Continental Travel Nurse do not have much choice.

My partner sat the IELTS again and got good scores but 6.5 in writing - with those scores she could work in US and Canada, but not UK.
I understand the NMC may change the test later in the year.

    Hi Larry,

Thank you very much for your inputs :)

I really appreaciate you taking time answering my concerns. Will have a look at those things that you've mentioned. For IT Skillsets I have Microsoft Products Teaching, Consulting and System integration, Thanks for the advice on IT Contracting, here in Singapore I can't do that unless I'm a permanent resident. tried applying as one here, but rejected thats why we are looking at UK to hopefully be together.

Again my sincere thanks for your kind assistance in answering my queries...

    Ferdie,
There is a company called Bite IT Consultancy in London who could advise you - Keith Boatman runs it - look when your wife is working you can come in as her dependent and then you can do any job you like.
    Don't worry.

    Kind regards,

    Larry

Let me explain to you very clearly - you mentioned that your wife is a nurse, and when she passes her IELTS she can get a work permit through one of the many hospitals - it is only then that you will come into the UK as a dependent and have the right to work.
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WORK IN THE UK AS A TOURIST.

A good start point would be does your wifes job offer salary meet the current spouse +child threshold of £22400

True - how ever you will get child benefit.
With both of you working it will be easier.
Your aim would be to get indefinite leave and then go to Qatar if your after money - as I understand that they pay three times the salary in the UK.

Well Mattecube your a Filipina and I'm a Brit - children get child benefit here regardless of where they come from, that is if their parents are working in the UK.
Yes it costs something to live here, and that's why I would suggest that life is easier outside of London, but what do you get here, that is different than living in the Philippines? Even in the Middle East - I suggest equality. What do you think?

My fiance left the Uk and has gone reluctantly back to the Philippines, after having stayed with me for three months, she thinks that it is better here in the UK than in the Philippines, and suggests that I shouldn't go and live in the Philippines.

She thought it was a lot quieter and safer here, though that is not to say we have crime here to.

It will be a bot longer until she practices as a nurse here, but for her children, she thinks it's better here, with free healthcare and free education.

Seriously, do you read so little of this site that you fail to realise Mattcube is a bloke and a British one at that?

Right now I am having serious trouble making any sense of this thread, both of you please get your act together and frame questions and replies in a way that actually addresses each others points, right now this seems like some weird disjointed rant.

Got it thanks Oss, I apologise I have upset you Mattecube. Will you accept my apology please.
The fact is that here in the UK there is an argument about the standard of living, the uncertainty, as there is a suggestion that the £ may fall below the Euro.
As Mattecube rightly suggests living in the UK as a starter nurse is rather difficult, though not impossible - the salary of say £22500 is not that much, when it comes to getting a roof over your head, buying the food shop etc...... but if there are two of you it's easier.
On the 10th August I was at Heathrow seeing my partner off and met a Filipino couple who worked in nursing homes in Somerset - the husband was an engineer and had retrained in the UK and had become an RMN a registered mental nurse, and he told me that he was getting over £22 an hour - he had just worked 7 nights in a row doing 14 hours a night. His wife was a clinical manager in another nursing home and he suggested that she was making more money. Their son was with them and he was six years old. The thing about Filipinos is hard graft - they are hardworking people.
I used to work here in London as a district nurse and my salary was around £45k to £50k a month. I'm 64 now and I don't want to go on nursing - I liked it and I liked the people I looked after, but I couldn't stand one of the managers and bullying was going on - I don't want to do it again! I worked for them for 9 years in the NHS and now get a pension of £500 a month from the NHS - not much but in the philippines it would go further.....
