    Hi me again,

My mother in law doesn’t have a passport or a mortgage so I can’t get past this point what can I do? It won’t progress unless I tick these boxes, it says you only need to provide this evidence if: you are responsible for for some housing costs such as rent mortgage or council tax (none that i am)

a tricky one this. Unless someone else can come up with a better idea ( hint )..heres my thoughts.

as you have to tick the boxes to progress the form--(even though you shouldnt have to--and the proofs dont exist anyway)----then tick them!

Then later in the form if there is a section for you to explain why there are missing documents--explain why. Its about the only idea i can think of.

Only snag is--i'm sure the average UKVI case worker will grind to a halt at that point, and toss the file into a more senior CW supervisors in tray, where it will sit with 000's of others for ever and a day. But as its for ILR which will most likely take 6 months to process anyway--what does that matter ?

Thanks for your help, your solution seems the only way, I will explain in the box why, I will throw in her council tax and letter of permission to live there. Many thanks again!

    Hi
First comment is that your Ma in Law is not you the applicants parent she is your spouses parent.
First box proof of ownership by ma in law the deeds to the house copied if rented tenancy agreement.
Second box passport is an example does she have a driving licence, OAP pass medical card?
3rd box letter from ma in law straight forward
Put your comments in the box where you have typed in parents ensure you put correct relationship ie applicants spouse parents then write what you've supplied and why then tick the boxes and move on

I think if you use the adoption process you can do it, ie child gets into UK, UK citizen adopts child and there you have it Iguess it can save you money!

I got it has his natural father is a British Citizen, when I applied for spouse visa, I only needed to apply for certificate of entitlement right to abode for stepson as British Citizen can not apply for visa they told me, I have not adopted him as takes long time.

If British citizen adopts in UK then child acquires citizenship on completion of the adoption process. From memory it costs £170 to do adoption and that is for one or more. It does take a lot of time although depends on how much chasing is done. Our experience was about 16 months.

Saving money shouldn't be reason for doing it. Courts act in best interest of child and has legal impacts for everyone. No guarantee court will agree to it. I would recommend thinking very seriously about why doing it and what are impacts. That said I have no regrets but had very clear reasons for doing it

Not suggesting it should be done to save money I am suggesting that as an aside it is less cost to do the right thing
