    I agree!

There is a means of transport that's not only very environmentally friendly but it's very cheap to run. It's called a bicycle and if more people used them, they'd be fitter and probably less of a burden on the NHS. As for TV licences I'm reasonbly sure that one can still buy these on an installment basis. It seems that some simply can't be bothered to tailor their lives according to their means and look to the tax payer to provide them with extra income.

You know, there's one group of people who have more to fear from the invasion of Bulgarians and Romanians than anyone else. Those are the Poles and other Eastern Europeans who have been in the country for quite some time and who may very well find their jobs in jeopardy, being undercut by the new arrivals. Unlike the new arrivals, the Poles etc., will be entitled to social security benefits so the country is worse off as a result.

BTW, it is not necessary to buy a TV licence if you watch "on demand".
It is only required by law if watching broadcast TV in real time.

Are you sure about that, Mike? The reason I question this is that the main reason the BBC gives for blocking access to iPlayer from abroad is that those who access from abroad most likely are not license fee payers.

I was listening to a programme on BBC Radio 4 a few months back, Mark. A few people who were interviewed said it was true and that was what they were doing.
    Also, http://www.bbctvlicence.com/

Note also their words "It is a criminal offence to watch or record programmes as they're being shown".

Aside from when you end up in A & E having been run over by a bus :D

Or did you mean "on yer bike" in the words of the imortal Norman Tebbit

If by tailor there lives you mean pay there bills from income gained by working whilst being threatened with criminal prosecution from a private corporation without any evidence of an offence having been committed then I agree

I dont think anyone needs to fear anyone for wanting to work hard and create a better life there is no evidence of a rush to arrive in the UK by Romanian and Bulgarian citizens indeed there is still plenty of capacity on low cost flights and no extra flights have been arranged the Mail has never of course been inconvenienced by such minor details as facts any more than you Mark:D

    An Inconvienient Truth

I picked the most right wing link of the many i found google

    https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=i...firefox-a&gws_rd=cr&ei=JHbFUrKRHc-Thgev3YHYCg

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development is an international think-tank backed by the world’s biggest governments. It crunches numbers on an industrial scale, providing data about developed economies that are regarded by a lot of people as fairly credible.

On both measures, the OECD found that international migration is making a positive difference to Britain’s public finances. That is, the Government’s deficit is smaller than it would have been without the presence of immigrants in the UK.

When I turned 16, I took a holiday job helping out in a shop in Chiswick, west London, and I habitually cycled the twelve miles from West Hampstead and back again to save money. Admittedly that was in the sixties but there was still a lot of traffic to contend with. In the three years I did that job, I didn't have a single accident and always got to work on time. And in those days there were no cycle helmets.

The answer is simple: don't break the law! Either don't watch TV programmes at the time they are broadcast or buy a TV License at £145.50 or on instalments of £12.13 a month. Simples.

That's not what I read in several online publications all of which point out that all flights from Romania are booked solid for the next two weeks as are the London-bound coaches from both countries.

Then I suggest you read what the IPPR - a left-wing think-tank - is saying. It now believes that there is no longer a viable and convincing case to be made for Britain staying in Europe under the current terms of membership and that, of course, would take into account any benefits migrants have brought.

Thank you for injecting some much needed humour into the debate! :like:

In point of fact, almost all Bulgarians and many Romanians will be Russian-speakers and the Bulgarian language uses the Cyrillic rather than Roman alphabet. Russian speakers find it much easier to learn Germanic languages and English than say French, Italian or Spanish.

I see from today's news that the Police and Borders Agency have been busy arresting newly-arrived A2 migrants found living rough in London and they'll very likely be deported. They'll also be barred from re-entering the country for a year but since Border Controls have been lifted, how is that to be enforced?!

I'll tell you another thing. What a lot of people in this country don't realise is that my son in law, that socialist git, he planned it all didnt he eh. I was away watchin Sir Bobby, Sir Martin and Sir Geoff and they planned it all in my ouse, while my back was turned. That layabout and his daughter Cherry and er husband. Sold the country out and let em all in. No wonder the bloody country is in a mess now.

Yep, one of the reasons they prefer to go elsewhere. But I gather their language is closer to Spanish....

The main findings of the research are that:

    • Recent immigrants (those who arrived after 1999 and who constituted 33% of the overall immigrant population in the UK in 2011) were 45% less likely to receive state benefits or tax credits than UK natives over the period 2000-11. They were also 3% less likely to live in social housing.

    • Over the same period, recent EEA immigrants have on average contributed 34% more in taxes than they have received as transfers. Recent immigrants from countries outside the EEA have contributed 2% more in taxes than they have received as transfers.

    • In contrast, over the same period, the total of UK natives' tax payments were 11% lower than the transfers they received.

    • Recent immigrants are also far better educated than natives: in 2011, 32% of recent EEA immigrants and 43% of recent non-EEA immigrants had a university degree. The comparable figure for UK natives is 21%.

The Guardian today highlighted how the report found that migrants who have come to the UK since the year 2000 have made a net contribution of £25bn to public finances.

By "their", to whom are you referring? If the Roma, then I believe you are correct. However not all Bulgarians and Romanians are Roma.
