World Remit have been busy with emails over the past few days but many people don't seem to get them, so here are the latest offers...

    1. New cash pick-up option in the Philippines

From today your family and friends can collect funds from any Banco de Oro (BDO) branch, including their kiosks in major shopping malls

It is now even easier for your recipients to collect the money you send them.

    2. Get 15% OFF when you top-up a mobile with WorldRemit

The offer is valid to all countries until Friday 20th of June, at midnight GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).

Use promo code ATJN142 on the payment page to take advantage of the offer.

(Even with this discount, you will probably find that Sendly (http://www.sendly.com/) is cheaper and more convenient)

    3. Get 50% off Money Transfer Fees to the Philippines.

The offer is valid from until midnight Friday 20th of June, at midnight GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).

Use promo code PHJU14 on the payment page and we will apply the discount.

For once they arrived at a time that I could use them, paid a total of 6.99 to send everything this month, and I topped up my own cellphone load at a discount as well :)

Thanks Howerd! I had not got them, but I suspect that is because I haven't updated my email details.

I am extremely happy with their service.

World Remit always tend to send me offers when I don't plan on sending a penny... Then a couple of weeks later when I could do with the discount, nothing....

    It's a conspiracy!!! o_O

It's definitely worth checking Azimo.com service to the Philippines - https://azimo.com/en/send-money-to-philippines.html

Lower fees - if you're sending £150 - Azimo fees are £2.99 vs £4.99 on World Remit.

    Better exchange rates - currently Azimo's exchange rate is £1 = PHP 73.91 vs World Remit £1 = £73.38

Azimo services include BDO, Cebuana Lhuillier, M Lhuillier
    • Home Delivery
Your money will be delivered to the beneficiary's address.
    • Direct to Bank Account
Pay money straight to your recipient's bank account.
    • Cash Pick-up
Your recipient can pick up cash at locations nationwide.

We have been round the houses on this one before, me personally I have never been able to successfully sign up to Azimo, your requirements and my life history don't mix, ah well (no further explanation will be ventured by me).

I will check again and see if you really are cheaper now, it was an open question the last time the subject was discussed on here, but always happy to give the benefit of the doubt.

Looks like a war between Azimo and World Remit at the moment as World Remit is repeating its offer from a few days ago, with 50% off money transfers to the Philippines

Enjoy 50% off Money Transfer Fees to the Philippines.

The offer is valid until Thursday26th of June, at midnight GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).

To take advantage of this offer enter promo code PHJUMT14 on the payment page and click on the 'Apply' button.

World Remit also repeated its offer of 15% off mobile top-ups to all destinations but that expired yesterday. Sendly (which I previously recommended) no longer supports top-ups to The Philippines. :(

I have e-mailed Sendly asking why they no longer support The Philippines as it was definitely the cheapest option with top-ups at bank exchange rates!

I have found a problem on the World Remit site!

Send £150 the standard fee is £4.99p

Send £150.01 and the fee rockets to £10.98p

Send £150.02 and the fee is £5.99p

That is an interesting "glitch"! Did you drop them a line? I have found them to be quite responsive.

I called them but they could not replicate the glitch when typing in £150.01 so I told them to try £300.01 and this gave a fee of £12.98p, yet £300.02 gives a fee of £6.99p.

We were both using the Chrome browser.

I have now found another problem! If you type in a 4 digit send amount too quickly, it ignores the last digit you type!

They need to be paying Howerd as development tester!

They have some javascript issues on the calculation particularly if you backspace or over-type after changing your mind about amounts but I don't think you can get to the checkout without the correct fee's being in place.

I've seen it get stuck being unable to alter the fee when I've changed amounts, only started happening recently, their original site revamp didn't have this problem but they have been tinkering.

I mentioned some dumb wording to them a couple of years ago, but the problem with this is that the office staff don't have a communications channel to the developers, I doubt they employ a full time development team as the site is fairly static so I expect the work is contracted out and that the system is hosted in some datacentre, they either need a technical contact email address on the site or a way to escalate web site issues to the management.

They may have been fiddling with this aspect of the site, on the older version I used to explore the fee boundaries by trying varying amounts (binary chopped) to decide exactly how much to send on certain occasions. Maybe they made it less reliable to stop people doing that ;) :)

I am not into consipracy theories; I just think they just made an error in the javascript as you originally suggested. But it is a very peculiar error and difficult to understand how range checking could give such an error. The fee it suggests is exactly twice that of what it should be. You are also correct that the error does not apparently carry forward to the actual transaction.

World Remit will also not allow me to use an email address of the format worldremit@domainname. They object to me using their own name in my email address, so I just have to write it backwards: timerdlrow@domainname.

I am beginning to think that World Remit are bombarding with special offers because I am not using them! Here is another half-price offer that should pretty much beat Azimo...

Send more for less with 50% off money transfer fees to the Philippines.

The offer is valid from NOW until tomorrow, Monday30th of June, at midnight GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).

To take advantage of this offer enter promo codePHJN14on the payment page and click on the 'Apply' button.

No that's not the reason mate, I get the same ones all the time and I use them very very regularly, I think they are just going through the discount phase, Xoom used to do this as well, I really hope that it is not a sign that they are struggling as no one else is currently anywhere near as good and reliable as they are.

Maybe it is just their way of competing with Azimo?
