Yet another fiance visa question

Hello again all, yes you read right, I have yet another fiance visa question.

On the application it asks for where and when we are planning on getting married. Do we have to have the actual wedding booked and planned, it will be a registry office ceremony, and is there a need for us both to visit the registry office, or, can we just put something generic on the visa application like saying it will be at the Ipswich registry office and will be in 2018?

What is the requirement at the registry office, giving notice for the wedding, booking the date, anything else? Is it something like two weeks before you have to post bands or something?

Many thanks as usual to all

what i did was book a provisional date for a register office wedding. it cost me £40--and got me a printed official letter and receipt. the system allowed one free change of date. BUT i think some register offices dont do this--so you may have to shop around.

edited---i could book up to a year ahead.

as regards the official notice of marriage--you have to attend together--after she has been here at least 7 days. you have to give it at your DESIGNATED register office--which may well NOT be your local or nearest office. check it out online. i think you give 28 days notice...but you can get married at a different reg. office if you choose to....you will have to tell the designated reg office where the wedding will be.

    Thanks BigMac.

Dont suppose you know but could Rowena come over on the fiance visa, get married, return to Abu Dhabi, work her notice then come over on the spouse visa (either applied before she goes back or when she returns)?

I don't think it would work with her leave and booking flights etc, but is she able to leave the country and return again on the fiance visa after the weddding?

the fiancee visa is valid for 6 months. she then applies for her first Further Leave to Remain....valid 2 & 1/2 years. but she can apply for it as soon as you are married--even same day service at a UKVI office--that gets her BRP ( work permit ). so--she could then go back to finish her job--if its worth it. but i dont know how long she can be out of the UK for.
