Tragic indeed, I've just been reading about it, lets hope it was a tragic accident and not some terrorist outfit copying the Nice attacks in France. A truck is a hell of a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands, in some ways much more dangerous than a gun.
That comes as no surprise, I think we can expect more of these attacks as they retreat from Syria and Iraq. For the life of me I cannot understand what brings people to act out these atrocities, its impossible for me to equate what is going on in their sick minds.
Dare I suggest that "islamic extremism" is to blame. Sounds fairly horrendous, so many people dead and injured.
Wasn't the Nice attack something to do with mental health issues of the bloke in question? Personally I'm waiting for facts before pointing the finger. This is a terrible incident made even worse due to the time of the year. Feel for their families

Death toll now up to 12 including a passenger in the lorry of Polish decent believed to be the original driver subjected to a hijack of his lorry. Person captured believed to be a refugee Very very sad
Driver is a Pakistani/Afghan asylum seeker who arrived as a refugee in February of this year, I think that fact tells its own story. Merkel should be locked up for allowing these people in.
In my opinion they all seem to be affected by some sort of inbred mental deficiency. But not near enough to get them off the hook. They still know right from wrong.
Isis and alqueda have called on their followers to perform similar acts of terrorism. I am sure we will hear of similar in the near future.
This is a horrible repeat of the atrocity in Nice in the summer. It's just worth noting that the intention of Daesh and of al Qaeda is to provoke the public into hostility towards all Moslem immigrants, which they can then use to justify their own bad cause. A comment heard on the BBC Today programme whilst driving to work this morning suggested that the "pedestrianisation" of UK town centres is accompanied by the placement of modern bollards which can resist the impact of a heavy goods vehicle at speed. Good thinking by someone.
The bollards in pedestrianised areas like in front of supermarked doors were mainly designed and installed to deter ramraiders from smashing and grabbing. Not to stop a 32 tonner with an attitude. Again to stop crimes against property not against people. Let us just face the fact that islam and western life and values are not compatible.
I agree that the atrocities are to provoke hostility towards Muslims and from a personal point of view it works. That's not to say we cannot do more to prevent these incidents as in not inviting them into your country and retaining hard borders which would have prevented the events of last night if there is any truth in the reports that the truck was driven from Poland. Its all about controlling who enters your country and if we have to single Muslims out as being a high risk then so be it, as Dom as said, Muslims and western civilisation do not mix so lets keep it apart best we can.
Is that true? Or does that line of thought merely mask the fact that extremist muslims hate our civilised Christian society, and wish to destroy it.
It is probably true to say that the majority of Muslims hate Christianity, I say that because of the lack of protests from the Muslim community when incidents like this happen. I just get that gut feeling that a lot of Muslims are not disturbed by incidents as we saw last night although I hope I'm wrong.
I would not have classified what happened last nightt in Berlin an "incident" but plain and unadulterated murder.
I was working for a Chinese company in Beijing when the US Air Force bombed the Chinese consulate in Serbia. Did I rise up and immediately and loudly condemn the atrocity? Actually, I did not.
