I looked a little less Daniel Craig and a little more Lee Evans in my suit during my wedding in Ilocos. I couldn't recommend wearing a Barong more, and wish I had. (For those who don't know Lee Evans, he is a very funny comedian -whose manic act leaves his suit soaked in sweat - I've included a photo of him, chosen especially because his facial expression matched that of mine on my wedding day.)
Hi @firew0myn we we're cake hunting and various suppliers quoted us prices for a particular cake design we wanted. One quoted £750 since its airbrushed! Geez! If you don't mind me asking, what is the price range of your cake? So I know if a price given to me was reasonable or not.
We were cheapskates and made our own. It got eaten just the same. Instructions for a three decker in Delia Smith.
As one who has first-hand experience of your culinary prowess, may I suggest that bespoke baking might be a profitable venture
Got my cake supplier and quoted us 375 quid which is in the budget and she was so professional so we gave it a go. Exciting!
Scotschap marked this "opimistic" so here is new boat with new wife: Lots can go wrong of course. But the ex wife came round to tea on Sunday to advise the new model on job applications and interviews (they get on quite well) and to my surprise said how much she missed sailing and could she come again (our two boys are both very keen)
Hey @Methersgate - I wasn't aware I'd accidentally hit the "optimistic" button. Put it down to a large thumb and my poor health! Nice pic of both lady and vessel! All the best. Gerry
No, Gerry - you are right. Wimmin and boats seldom mix without an explosion, with the spectacular exception of our mutual friend E.B., who appears further up this thread in our wedding pics as the maid of honour (blue dress) and who became famous in Southampton as the only Asian, the only girl and the only one who could splice wire on her course for the Commercial Endorsement to her Yacht Master's Certificate!
I am in the middle of organising ours as well as getting the Fiancee visa. So stressed. Its difficult to get that mix of cultures as well. We are having a Lechon but the venue will only leave it out for 1.5 hours. I tried to explain they stay out for literally days but no, food safety rules. Its been tricky to identify philippino traditions that work as well. We are not having a church wedding obviously. What sort of touches could we use that would make the in laws feel at home but also the brits appreciate? I thought about giving everyone a tabo as a wedding favour but that evidently just wasnt funny
When I was posting on this thread I had not considered your impending wedding. But in hindsight just maybe the thread is a useful one for yourself. I notice there were posts from members in the Manchester area.
