Just loking at those london pass things and you can get one with a travel option on it, sounds a good deal. http://www.londonpass.com/london-pass-prices.php#
Actually there were tramps across the way on the other side of the square, camping out and protesting, I recall at the time.
Yep, One of these Nights on vinyl. Nothing else then as I recall. Cassettes were just coming out then, I think.
Which London station are you travelling in to ? Things to see: I'd always suggest a trip down the river (by river bus or tourist boat) to Greenwich.
Yes, I mentioned that one But as I said please look into the details, they don't really cover all the major tourist attractions. There's loads of stuff included with free entry, and loads of stuff that a regular tourist to London would not be interested in. It's an expensive card.
Here's a pretty informative website called The London Toolkit It says it's "The independent travellers guide to London" and it does contain some very good stuff and some great explanations and ideas. All in all a good little toolkit covering Hotels, Sightseeing, Travel and Aiports Anyway Stu just take a look at the cost of travel on the Tube these days !! £4.50 per single journey each. That soon mounts up to a significant travel cost. You'll need to try and formulate how many days you'll be there, where you'll be travelling around and the approx number of journeys. But it's not rocket science to see the difference in cost by using Oyster Card. Yes, you'll need one each.
Unfortunately I cant see utube vids at work and I'm not sure which station we'll be arriving into yet. But we will probably leave from derby / nuenton
Yeah, I'll have a proper look today as I was coming to to the end of my shift last night and try to come up with a list of placeswe'll see. I'll look at the 2 for 1 stuff with rail travel
The Greenwich maritime museum is a brilliant place to visit http://www.rmg.co.uk/ I could have spent days in there. There is a great area in the Royal Observatory close by showing the evolution of ships' chronometers. It would be very interesting for you to go as you spend a lot of time on ships. I would love to go back there again.
That is actually one of the few places I do want to visit actually along with the tower of london and possibily Qew gardens
How about the Science Museum in South Kensington (only a short hop from 'Arrads)? Its many years since I last went. It seems to have moved with the times. Entry is free, evidently. http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/
Before I was married I spent a couple of days in London with the sole intention of spending one whole day in the Science Museum and another whole day in the Natural History Museum I ended up spending both full days in the Science Museum and a week later went back to spend two day in the Natural History Museum. An in all honesty I could have stayed longer in both. Just out of this world experience. Yes, both are completely free. Amazing. I haven't been for a couple of years, so I bet things have changed a lot.
Sometime before it ends I'm craving a visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum for the "David Bowie is" exhibition. It's running from Sat 23 March 2013 until Sun 11 August 2013 That's another wonderful place too.
