Yes, it does, but like Timmers and I am sure the rest of us I bridle when men from those places (and others) insult Filipinas generally.
That I do Andrew, as mentioned previously I hate the people that look down on our beloved Filipinas, its because I feel in turn they are looking down at me, which wont do at all
I wouldn't disagree at all but it's a battle you won't win. The wife learnt me a lesson, she told me to laugh with those people who are like that, I thinks she's right or I'd of punched someones lights out by now.
That's the problem, I don't want to laugh at them, I want to punch them because insulting them is insulting me. I agree though that its a problem that wont go away, maybe if we punched a few it would go away though
Before I had even met my Mrs I used to stand up for Filipinos after spending months there working I had come to admire and respect them. I especially admire how they look after their families compared with us in the UK, I don't think you'll find many old peoples homes in the Philippines.
No care homes for the elderly there of course. I do wonder if the Western influence has eroded some of that culture ever so slightly though or indeed whether it will in the future?
I think in general Filipinos are well liked in the UK because of their reputation for being good nurses in the NHS, outside that I don't believe your average Joe Bloggs knows anything about the race in the UK. Probably true to say that if you're walking down the street with a Filipina people think you have bagged yourself a Thai bride
I couldn't care less what people think in the street. It just seems like Pakistanis (note the non-derogatory version!) and others who come from societies where meeting women is not easy compared to some others are pretty desperate and lonely. They are internet lounge lizards
I was born in RSA but brought up in Goa India to portuguese/Scottish parents. As im an Indian i can proudly say i do respect women the way i respect my mother and my sisters. Not all indians are animals as we have the 2nd highest for doctors engineers scientist. I have been to dubai many times and one can see its easy to get a filipina or a thai girl. and it was easy in HK also. I dont know why and who started this but i feel they have a repetition of easy catch.
Unfortunately, a reputation can be spread for quite the wrong reasons. Poverty does directly lead to bad reputations, unfortunately. I asked my Filipina wife about "ladies of the night" when we were getting to know each other back in 2008. Without a moment's hesitation, she said "because they're lazy". Poverty distorts many things but it is nothing new and it can lead to the world's oldest profession. This is not to say that Filipinas in Dubai are all "easy". Perhaps their friendly dispositions can be confused with other motives, sadly.
