I never met Kuya in person but we did chat a good deal about political issues. I was once an active member of the Labour Party who became a founder member of the SDP. Our positions were not so far apart. I think you are probably right.

Corbyn's new "gentler politics" actually consists of policy U-turns and indecision, threats of rape, hurling abuse at the Tories, calling moderate Labour members "Red Tory Scum", chucking eggs and launching projectile saliva at those who hold different political viewpoints. In view of that, drawing attention to Thatcher's remarks about ad hominem attacks wasn't perhaps the wisest thing to do - an own goal!

Dan Hodges is a former Labour Party activist who hated Tories with a passion. A couple of days ago, he wrote an article "I have a confession - I can't hate the Tories any more" which was published in the Daily Telegraph. The article concludes with the following words:

Please reference your allegations that Corbyn supports threats of rape, egg throwing and spitting you Mark are a fair example of misrepresentation :)

If you read again what I wrote, you will see that I said "Corbyn's new "gentle politics" actually consists of ...". I didn't explicitly state that he supports those examples of anti-social behaviour. Mind you, he doesn't appear to have admonished those who do so its reasonable to speculate that he probably does. His sidekick the shadow chancellor certainly supports such 'direct action'. Any misrepresentation is, sad to say, in your mind's eye only and based on a misinterpretation of what was written.

Jeremy Corbyn has called for protesters to avoid "personal abuse" after ugly scenes near the Conservative Party conference.

The Labour leader urged activists to take part in "civilised debate" as he spoke in Manchester city centre.

It comes after Charlotte Church wrote an open letter apologising for the behaviour of some anti-austerity protesters who spat at people and shouted "scum" at those attending the opening day of the Tory event.

Some 60,000 people joined a march in the city over the weekend to oppose Government policies.

Mr Corbyn, who was addressing a rally defending postal services on Monday night, said: "If we go into politics, we go into our union work, we go into our lives on the basis that what we say we hope is of value, what the other person says we hope is of value, and we engage in an intelligent, civilised debate, not responding to personal abuse and not making personal abuse."

Markhams old politics actually consists of abuse , lies and mealy mouthed innuendo hurled at anyone with a different political opinion ( Mark please note I only said "actually consists of" so by your low standards that doesnt count as a personal attack)

    :p:lol::rolleyes:

What he says in front of the TV cameras may not necessarily be what he says when the cameras are switched-off; he is a politician after all. Besides which, his speech was made towards the end of the second day of the Tory Conference. Too little, too late. And there's a cross-party convention that provides for no organised demonstrations should be held in the same city and at the same time as an opposing party's annual conference. Oh and Corbyn-supporting multi-millionaire Labour luvvie Charlotte Church was in the thick of the demonstration on the Sunday - regardless of what she might say subsequently to appear reasonable and protect her income stream.

Zoe Williams, a senior Guardian journalist, told the BBC's Daily Politics show: "I really don’t have a problem” with protesters spitting on her journalist colleagues:

This didn't go down too well with fellow leftie journalists Michael Crick and Owen Bennett who were spat at by Corbyn-supporting protestors.

Lies?!! Mealy mouthed innuendo?!! Really?!! I think you have me confused with someone else!

Regardless of who's who and says or does what to whom the fact exists that the new liebour party hierarchy is formed by some wannabe hasbeens without a clear idea of what they want to achieve or how to go about the normal business of running a country, which incidentally they despise with a passion, if they haven't even had the experience to run a layby caravan cafe'.

I must admit, that I feel quite wary of this scheeming lot.
I am actually scared of what they could unleash on the country, were they to be in charge.
The politics of envy, where people that work hard for what they have, will be chastised by taxing to the bone, so the bone idle can sign on for life.
I don't earn massive amounts of money, but I noticed that in the last few years, thanks to austerity, prices have actually gone down, we are in inflation negative, today I read, rightly or wrongly, that unemployment is down and output is up.
And Osborne's fiscal charter is sound common sense.......... Why spend more than one earns???
looks like call me Dave is doing things right...

Perhaps minimum wage should be linked to your family status like for a spouse visa the subsidy is actually to the firms who pay so low.

In ther 60,s and 70,s anyone who worked full time could pay the rent and put food on the table for the family
