He said after living in the Philippines for 30 years and 11 in Boracay most Recently that for him it’s the place to be. BUT You better take out health insurance .. he has mates who were charged £20,000 to fix blood clots in legs and they didn’t bother and didn’t last that long after. They accepted their fate. many others are there without visas and take their chances also. But for him the pros outweigh the cons he said. I have to say the embassy mob ain’t that helpful lol - what happened to it’s more fun in the Philippines.
The old embassy was even worse, super cheerful lot in there whose speciality was telling filipinas who wanted passport renewals they had to pay income tax to the Philippines on cash earned in the UK, I never figured that one out
It is fun in the Philippines until there is a medical emergency. I prefer to have less fun and live in a country which has something as wonderful as the NHS. People who go to live in another country and don't take out medical insurance are plain silly, to put it mildly.
