there is plenty of foreigners that are in abusive, exploitative relationships with Filipinos they have married, both within the Philippines and without. If you think that the only sexpats are sitting in bars looking at girls writhing around poles, then I suggest you'd better think again.

So that excuses you, does it? The only foreigners I know that have abused Filipinas have been from continental Europe and American 'rednecks' including your friend Paul Petrea.

Casting aspersions about this Forum's membership is beyond the pail.

    GO AWAY.

I don't see why he should be banned. If he wants to make a fool of himself online surely that's his prerogative. It's actually quite fun reading about him and his waterproof money belt.

Hmm. You are resorting to attacking my position rather than answering the question. That's never a good sign.

A sex tourist is someone (seemingly like yourself) who repeatedly visits a country in order to have relations with many different women over a period of time. Marriage is not the same and your comparison is idiotic and without merit. There is no point discussing that.

I'm minded to think that arguing with you @whipster would be rather like trying to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time, and it annoys the pig.

It's pretty clear to me the calibre of person that I'm dealing with here.

I find your remarks offensive and although you are entitled to your opinion, I feel that perhaps you would be better served by keeping them to yourself.

He can make a fool of himself all he likes. But I do object to his offensive remarks regarding Filipinos and those of us who have chosen to marry one.

Me too, but he's just making himself look a bit of a mug with his comments. Let him.

I didn't find anything offensive about his remarks. :ninja: He is contributing a lot of interesting and informative posts though... and has shown very good manners and self-restraint. Evidently an experienced traveller with an extensive knowledge of the Philippines. :)

that's your definition. A sex tourist can also be somebody who visits a country - especially when it's a person from a rich country like the UK who visits a poor country, like the Philippines - to meet a particular woman, who let's say they first got to know of online. So what if he ends up marrying her. What difference does that make. Since when did any marriage not involve sex. Why is somebody automatically absolved of the label just because they get married. Those relationships can be as abusive and exploitative as any.

excuse me but you are the one who claimed on another thread that it is better to use a foreigner business (and pay three times the price) to get an extension, because a Filipino business cannot be trusted, with a foreigner's passport. How offensive is that?

You seem very immature emotionally and in how you see women. Seriously, my son is 12 years old and even he understands that there is more to relationships than just sex.

You are missing out on so much by not being able to think beyond the general area of your money belt.

I think you are likely to find that my working definition of a sex tourist is likely more widely accepted than yours.

I find it remarkable that you feel comfortable making that kind of statement when the majority of people here, are here because they share the same life story - they have fallen in love with and in most cases married a foreign woman.

It's not true that attack is the best form of defense you know. Sometimes it just makes you look like an idiot. As I said earlier - I really think you should think twice before expressing your rather immature and strange opinions.

I have visited Angeles City pretty often; I used to work for Wallems in Hong Kong - they had their IT "back office" in Angeles. More recently I have passed through Angeles en route to and from Clark airport, always with K and the stepsprog.

It would be idle to pretend that my business trips to Angeles when I was with Wallems did not include evenings spent with colleagues drinking beer and enjoying the view in and around Balibago, but, technically, I was on a "business trip" not being a "sex tourist".

There is certainly more to Angeles than Fields Avenue, but I have never wanted to live there, simply because I know Subic/Olongapo much better, I have more friends there, and (important for me) I can go sailing there!

Most folks on this forum have some genuine and honest connection to the Philippines and enjoy sharing their time and experiences.

There's always the chance that someone comes along who enjoys posting bigoted, judgemental or offensive posts just to get some futile point across.
A pretty common addition is their need to have the last word.

Personally, I'm a supporter of a position of having some rules when it comes to the issue of 'free speech' especially in a forum such as this.

What's it called when etiquette and GMRC goes out of the window solely for self-gratification and wind-up ?

I guess whether it's helpful or harmful depends on your 'frame of reference'

Time and again uncontrolled cyberspace proves to be more ofensive than reality ......
