Hi All, I previously applied for a ROA for my child as the passport process in the Philippines takes far too long. This was around 2.5 years ago. We are looking to travel to the UK in December and I am now looking to apply for a ROA for my 2nd child and I called the UK helpline to find out the latest info. The HO told me that if the child is eligible for a UK passport then they must now apply for a passport rather than a ROA and will not be eligible for a ROA? Has anyone else experienced this new ruling recently? Worried as the passport process takes around a year / i want to travel in December / Plus I dont want to pay for a ROA and have it rejected! Anyone applied for a ROA rather than a passport recently/ RJD
The information you have been given is (currently) correct. You should apply for the child's Passport. The procedure has been speeded-up quite considerably and now takes around 3 to 4 months with the major delay being the checking of the Philippine documents.

When did the new rules change,as i did my stepson in august 2016 and only took 2 days to get it and paided £472 and go's in his passport.
I got an ROA for my daughter around the same time no problems. I called the Home Office and they told me if eligible for passport they have to go that route! Not ROA. But if so when would you be eligible for an ROA? i have asked the missus to visit VFS in Cebu and ask what we can do there. RJD
