wife is back in the philis--and took her son to vfs manila today for his biometrics.

all they kept was his passport and vaf 4a printout. she was told to send other documents to sheffield...tb, birth cert and the boys father's letter of consent ( she will be back here in 2 weeks --so will bring those back with her to post to sheffield from the UK. )

i know of one other member who was recently told to do the same

HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE RECENTLY ?

Happened to @Emz|Ray❤ when she applied. She was told to send her documents to Sheffield.

I’ve read a similar experience in another thread, seems like they are changing (again) the process of sending the supporting documents. Good luck in your application!

I think it was @a8amg's applicant who experienced the same. Goodluck!

and now UKVI Sheffield are claiming they haven't received my (Sponsor) documents... they were sent at the same time as my stepsons in a separate box clearly labelled with the correct GWF ref No.

Hey guys sorry to jump in on this post. I’m also on the process to get my 15 year old son from Philippines and get my mom a tourist visa with him. I’m on ILR at the moment, my resident permit will be valid till 2023 (I know I should have already applied citizenship) but I just want to get my son here before he turns 16 ! I’m currently 12 weeks pregnant and I’m so stressed out where to start l. Just a question, should I send all my supporting documents to Sheffield instead to my Mom when they go to Cebu Consulate??? So confused! help im so desperate!

your sponsorship documents go to sheffield. any docs -- (TB cert..birth cert-)--in the philippines also go to sheffield--except his passport and print off of VAF4 signed by him. they are handed in at VFS.

Thank you so much for the reply! Really huge help! My husband is sponsoring my son at the moment as I’m unemployed (I’ve stopped working as we were focusing on our IVf-ICsi treatments for 2 years) . Would that be ok right eventhough he’s just the stepfather? I thought the application is launched online and I don’t have to print any application?

Hey @bigmac if you don’t mind, can you tell me which documents I need to send in Sheffield and the documents I need to send my mom for my son’s application and bring it with her on his VFs appointment?x

send all your sponsorship paperwork to sheffield--with the appendix completed.
you can complete the online vaf 4 application on his behalf--select "apply for someone" else at the top of the page. we printed off a copy of the online form and included it in the bundle.

you also need to include a stamped addressed return envelope. you can get large plastic soft envelopes at a post office--5 in a pack.

you will get it all back with a standard letter saying they have copied it all.

you dont send anything to the filis.

your son takes his printed off copy of the vaf4 form--and confirmation of appoinment letters to VFS--with his passport. VFS will tell him to send anything else to sheffield. best to send it to you first--to include in your sponsorship bundle. ( we made the mistake of sending our bundle first--so 2 separate bundles got sent--3 weeks apart )

Ahhh thanks so much for the reply! It’s been awhile doing visa stuff and there’s just so much changes! I’ll have to sort everything out as soon as I have my new passport. Since I can’t pick up my kid because I’m pregnant (Zika warning ) I need my mom to come here with my son instead. I also need to submit like special power of attorney?! Has someone experienced it?!

I feel like it’s going to be harder if he’s older? Really worried! I’ve heard stories once they passed 16 might be hard to get them sponsored? Also my husband sponsors him instead of me as I’m unemployed at the moment (housewife).

Sponsorship can take place upto the age of 18 and as long as the application is in before the 18th birthday.

I really hope so! I shouldn’t be listening to other people’s story really? But I know I should have done it earlier as I have planned originally but we had a family tragedy 2 years ago (Dad lost his battle with cancer) and it has just been quite hard financially and emotionally! I hope there’s going to be happy days soon! I can’t wait to get my son here!

My son was from my previous marriage and father has been absent since he was 3 years old and I got annulled too back home, so I’m hoping there’s nothing that can stop or make it much harder to get my son here!
