Hello again :) Change of plans. Instead of applying for a fiancé visa, we decided to try for a visit visa first. For the reason that I am not his fiancé yet. If I apply for a fiancé visa and ask for proof of engagement, I have nothing to show and I am afraid that my application will be rejected because of that. I wanted to be completely honest to the ECO as I don’t want to be banned for 10 years!:erm::frust: Although they say that visit visa is kind of a lottery and it is quite complicated, I think that there is no harm trying (or are there? :erm: ). I have questions (below) regarding visit visa. I’m sorry, it’s too many :blah: :drama: but I would appreciate all the responses and help that I will get from you guys. Thank you in advance. :like: :)

    These are my questions:

    1. PASSPORT:

On the checklist for Visit Visa, it says there that I need to show my old passport. Problem is, I cant find my old passport. What I have is just a photocopy of it (first and last page). Is that enough? There weren’t any stamped pages on it. What I am planning to do is get a certificate of travel records at the Bureau of Immigration, Manila to prove that I did not travel out of the country using that old passport. Do you think the ECO will acknowledge that doc (certificate of travel)?

    2. ASSETS

Specifically, LAND TITLES. I don’t have any of these. Our family owns the property and I can show them our land titles of course, but it is not under my name. It is under my parent’s name. Do I still need to submit it if the title is not under my name? How many land titles do I need to submit?

    3. BANK REQUIREMENTS:
It says there that I need to submit Bank Statements, Bank Book and Bank Certificate.

    A) I have printed out the Bank Certification Request Slip http://www.vfs-uk- ph.com/images/BCVS_form.pdf that I got in the VFS site. When you requested a bank certificate do they include Bank Statements as well?

    B) BANK BOOK - I don’t have these. Do I need to get one?

    C) PROOF OF SAVINGS – I don’t have much on my bank account. I have a
sponsor that will support me on my visit/travel. If needed, how much do I
need to put on my account? Do I need much?

    4. EMPLOYMENT
As of now, I am not employed on a private company yet. I am currently self-
employed. We have a family business that I am currently assisting with. I can
show the eco our business docs such as DTI/SEC Registration, Mayor’s Permit
etc. I also teach violin but mostly at our house. Is being ‘self-employed’ a
    weighty proof?

    5. OTHERS
Do I need to show/submit my CENOMAR and Birth Certificate?
I am also preparing a ‘scrap book’ as proof of our relationship. But I am going to
apply for a visit visa, am I still going to be asked to show proof of relationship?
Is it wise to tell them that I am a member of an online Filipinos and Brit group?

I told Tommy of the requirements that he needs to send me. These are:

    - Copy of his passport (personal page and the stamped pages)
    - An invitation letter/sponsorship letter (its better be a good one hehehe! )
    - An up-to- date detailed bank statements and other savings (6 months)
    - Payslips - HOW MANY MONTHS PAYSLIPS DOES HE NEED TO
    SEND ME?

    - Evidence of Accommodations like Mortgage docs etc. I also told him to send me
pics of his house. I thought this could be a good proof as well.
    - I haven’t mention this to him yet but I just read the Guide to Supporting
Documents that he needs to submit an accommodation details with a supporting
letter from the occupant confirming that I can be able to stay there.

Does he need to send me a certificate of employment, his birth certificate, and divorce decree?

I have been reading the Guide to Supporting Documents http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/resources/en/docs/1903073/supportingdocsvisituk . It says there that the sponsor should submit ‘Home Office Letter confirming permission to stay in the UK’ . What is that and where and how can he get that?

Did I miss anything? Any more requirements that will substantiate my application?

How can I prove and convince the ECO that I will be back here in manila before my visa expires as I know this is their huge concern.

I can’t find the checklist GUIDANCE ON VISIT VISA If sponsored by a resident of the UK on the VFS and UKVisa sites :badpc:. What I have is the blurred copy that the girl handed me when I visited their office in Pasong Tamo Extn, Makati City.

    :help:

Thank you guys again :) :like::grouphug:

and ask for proof of engagement

    .... there's no effective proof.
To apply for the fiancee visa, you just need to show (and prove) that you are in a relationship...
ie, you've met, you have pictures together, long-time communication etc etc.

If you intend going down the tourist visa route, be prepared to be disappointed.
You might be succesful, but it's a lottery and the dice are stacked against you.

You have no savings, nor full-time employment.
The Embassy will immediately look upon this as "economic migrant"..... because with no job & no savings, why would you bother to return ?

What your sponsor' circumstances are, is in effect, irrelevant.
It's YOU they are interested in.... not him.

Sorry if this comes across as negative...... just being realistic.

BBJ just got the words out of my keyboard....

It is exactly what I was going to say, and could not express myself as eloquently as that.:erm:

The Visitor Visa, although a cheaper option IS a lottery, and very, very difficult to obtain.
A fiancee visa, does not require proof of engagement, but requires a proof that a provisional booking for a church/registrar wedding, within six months, is in place.
A wedding, which doesn't have to, necessarily, take place....
One can always claim to have changed one's mind....

I don't know if the expense, justifies the end result, really, it is not up to me to pass judgement, only that in my opinion it may be worth, if for nothing else the furtherance of getting to know each other that little bit better, before making a lifelong commitment.:like:

    Yuna,

There will be no questions about the "engagement".
... and very very few people have to attend an interview.

Your standard response on the fiancee visa route is...
" It is our intention to marry as soon as practically possible, after the granting of the fiancee visa and my arrival in the UK"

What might also strengthen your case is, (if it needs strengthening) if you visit/meet up in another country.. eg Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore.
I believe Filipinas do not require a visa for these countries.
So, in your passport it will show you arrived / you departed..... you didn't over-stay, and you spent time together as a couple.
His passport will show that he was there while you were.
It shows the relationship is genuine, and you can be "trusted" not to abuse the host country's "hospitality".
    Cannot do any harm.

That was the thing I insisted when we met. You told me that you're not yet a fiance. How come you're not???
Just show them your photos together, your YM chat emails etc and you'll be OK. Rather than applying tourist visa which is very hard to obtain.
I've known some who obtained visas but they have good travel history. I had not much travels when I lodged my application but show them all the requirements they needed.

There's no harm in trying but please don't expect too much.

    Best of luck to you.

    sponsorship undertaking (sponsor license)

is this applicable for visit visa application? A girl from the visa section told me that my sponsor needs to fill out that form online. But when I check it on UKBA website, I cant seem to find the tick box for Tourist/Visit Visa. The only categories I saw there are Tier 2, 4 and 5 so I was wondering maybe the girl misunderstood me or something but I did told her that I will be sponsored by my boyfriend. :erm: :erm::erm::frust::confused::help: :)

As you probably cannot show your have your own funds when visiting the UK and as you will be visiting your boyfriend, I think your boyfriend would have to write a sponsorship letter.

I think you need form VAF1A and part 11 of that form has a checkbox to tick for your bf's sponsorship letter.

    yuna,
Just to confirm that this is my understanding also.
The sponsor's letter will be very important for you.
Looking back through your post it's gonna be a tough call on visa approval. Somehow you need to convince the ECO that you have strong reasons to return to Phils.
Wish you all good luck anyway

One thing I have learned is that you must NOT have multiple reasons to visit the UK. Your reason will be to visit your boyfriend in the UK. DO NOT tag on another reason; for example, do not say that you will be a tourist as well.

It does help if you have visited other countries before coming to the UK and that you can demonstrate this and that you adhered to visa requirements when visiting those countries.
