I am going to apply for a 13A permanent immigration visa, and intend to do this at the Philippine Embassy in London. I need the visa because it entitles me to be exempt from duty and VAT on domestic household goods exported to the Philippines. This would be a full 40ft container. The wife being a returning domicile is only allowed PHP10,000 exemption. Having downloaded the forms there are some requirements that need clarifying; a) Where do I obtain the medical which includes a chest x-ray ? b) How do I obtain the CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) report, when the government website states it can only be applied for by employers. The CRB is now called the DBS. Maybe the CRB is for the Philippine police clearance? c) How do I obtain a 'certificate of good moral character' from my employer...............................I have owned my own business for 40 years (probably write one out for myself !). I may be drawing the wrong conclusion thinking that the application wording and intentions are more stringent than are actually needed . I will phone the embassy to clarify the points. Has anyone obtained a 13A visa from the Philippine Embassy in London ? If so please share your experience. Mike Kowal
I have but it was 10 years ago..Back then my Doc. surgery charged me 100.00 for general health check up..Fortunately the blood and stool checks were free but I reckon that was a mistake. The Xray was 100.00 Quid and then I went to the Police and asked them for a clearance...They sent me something similar but in my case it took 3 months to receive!! Fortunately at the time I was in no rush.
You need to apply at your local Police Station for an ACPO Police Clearance which is essentially what used to be known as a CRB certificate.

Had no problems at all and received the certificate very promptly I applied my 13a after landing into Philippines. Didn't need to ship much stuff so used LBC Balikbayan boxes and some custom made wooden boxes. I think around 20 or 25 boxes sent in total. A 40ft container certainly hold a whopping amount of stuff. Have you thought about buying some stuff here instead of shipping ?
