Bob Couttie texted me from Kampot, Cambodia - "Computer died... but I found a jar of Marmite!"

So, the obstetrician was a lady from India, a country that practices selective abortion. I think the obstetrician was worried that Filipino parents practise the same.

My only wish is that the baby is healthy, however sometimes knowing the sex makes the planning a little easier.

Cheers Micawber :) Indeed they do. Our first child is 14 months and the constant daily changes that I see in her progression is fantastic :)

My wife has a problem with SSS - her employer had been paying it into someone else's account since November last year. Just another small problem to get sorted before she comes here. Takes about three weeks to put right.

Can anyone suggest a Philippines bank my wife can open before she leaves The Philippines? She intends to do some work selling Real Estate in the Philippines and any commission will be paid into that account and she will need to be able withdraw funds in the UK.

Does your wife already have an 'International' ATM card ?
Means an ATM card with either a Mastercard or Visa logo.
Generally, these can be used in almost every country outside the Philippines

@Micawber My wife's existing bank account only exists as long as she works for her employer. But she left her job a week ago, so she needs a new bank account. BDO appears to be the best if only for the reason it requires an opening and maintaining balance of 5000 Pesos.

If they are to deposit funds in her account, a branch can be seen almost everywhere. Also, most SM malls have BDOs that are open even during Saturdays and Sundays. :)
