I've been looking at this online form, which one is supposed to fill in on a computer, then print out, before presenting at the embassy. All well and good, but they also ask for the wedding date and venue. What if that is not known at that stage...as the ceremony not yet booked ? Has anyone had any experience of this ? I would be inclined to just leave those sections blank, but the form is supposed to be TYPED on your computer, so a bit difficult to add anything in later, if the advice was to put SOMETHING in there.
This concern has been raised by many people. The British Embassy have always been fairly relaxed on this since the document has a validity of 6 months and accept that the need not be accurate. They'll accept that a date can just be estimated month and year and need not be day specific. So for example September 2015 would be acceptable. Similarly with venue, they understand that it is just a proposal. You can't leave it blank so best to just put any place in the local area where marriages are performed. To the best of my knowledge it's never been a problem.
BTW Graham have you yet booked any appointment slot with the British Embassy ? I'm not sure exactly what their availability is these days, but do be aware that from time to time it can become problematic. Take a look here:- https://www.consular-appointments.s...oaths-affirmations-and-affidavits/slot_picker
Thankyou very much for the (reassuring) advice. Yes, I have already arranged an appointment at the embassy next week, with the appropriate department...and confirmed by them. Cheers.
I used the new style affirmation in December 2014. I just said March 2015 in Cebu City. Be sure that you affirmation/affidavit will fit on ONE piece of paper, even if it means using both sides.
Thanks Howerd. Yes, I have just put the month and year, plus the Municipal Hall in my partner's home town as the location ....all on one sheet of (good quality) paper too. (The template is one sheet only of course).
