hi, heard a rumour not sure what basis it has that the financial requirement for visas goes up next year from the current 18,000?is there any truth to this- if so if my wife came here in 2013 on 6 month fiancé visa, then shes done part 1 of FLR it runs out june next year would we stay on the old earnings threshold..which she entered the country on? pls help..... all the best steve
The financial requirement has been £18,600 since 2012 when the rules changed, remember your wife's earnings can be used on the FLR(M) application as well as your own.
I think the confusion comes from new rules being talked about on work permits. They are saying the after 6 years, people on work permits need to be earning around that figure. It doesn't affect spouse visas, although that's not to say they won't change that too at some point. It would only effect new applicants though, even if they did. Or, at least, that was the case last time.
This is where the misunderstanding stems from, we discussed it here the other day; http://www.british-filipino.com/index.php?threads/new-rules-on-uk-migration.10813/ Graham is right, its about people migrating to the UK and not having a job that pays £35k after five years or so.
AH YES I SEE, GOOD NEWS FOR US THEN FEEL SORRY FOR THE MIGRANT WORKERS-NURSES ETC EXPECTING TO EARN 35K AFTER FIVE YEAR SEEMS CRAZY! thanks for the help, gunna read the thread you've outlined above. cheers people have a great week
