    Howdi to all..

So I've been reading through the various threads in this board for the past hour.. great info big help..

But with me being so laid back I'm almost horizontal I thought better ask a question or 2 before I mess up my embassy appointment TOMORROW yikes :/

So which document is required affidavit or affirmation? Or both ?

Also I know I can print these of but my next question is.. are the documents a template that I need to type on or do I have to write in caps with black ink ? As we all know how pernickety some establishments can be also this is the Philippines !!

Also am I correct in saying the CENOMAR is only required for the local registry where we plan to marry ( Mindanao ) I'm here for 3mths so plenty of time !

That's all for now I'll ask more Q's later but don't want to overload my jetlagged brain for now. ..

    Thx in advance !

Oh while I remember do I really need to take photocopy of passport contact details ? Sure photo page, visa stamp..

In a nut she'll what do I need for Embassy appointment all the other gumph can wait until I'm in Mindanao !!

    Cheers...

We had some posts on the 'affirmation' recently but I can't remember which threads.

    Are you religious?

These things are the same, affidavit is for those of faith, affirmation is for the rest of us ;) :D

This is the page you want https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/marriage-in-the-philippines

There are three documents but the first is the one that explains it all.

As far as I can see both options are the same the only difference is whether you believe in an invisible friend.

edit: going out for a wee while, but I will take the laptop with me, will be online again in 30-40 minutes.

So before it was " use black pen write in caps " now with technology it's " size 12 font, times new roman font with a 1.5 cm margin lol

But no mention of which passports pages should be photocopied.. I'll just go with what was mentioned elsewhere !

Just need to download and complete one of the forms.

You must prepare a typed affirmation or affidavit of marital status, whichever one yo choose...

Where there is a choice of statements, i just struck through the not applicable statement.

Regarding Passport, just need biometric photo page. No need for visa stamps as you are there anyway.

Seems the guidance list has shrunk since when i attended in april, there was a lot more.
It's good they have reduced the amount of paper work.

The Embassy may ask for contact details, you can't rely on being recorded on your mobile, as it will need to be surrendered at the guard house. Its worth having both UK and Philippine contact details handy

Possibly worth checking your Embassy appointment details and confirmation e-mail you probably have received.
It may mention others items not listed on the Gov.uk site?

Have the required fee in cash (pesos)

You report to the guard house (vehicle access point) marked on map.

You'll present passport, then will be required to surrender bags, mobile and empty pockets.
You'll get a security frisk, then given a numbered plaque, walk down to main building entrance, there will be another security guard, turn left and you'll be in waiting area, that has counter to approach when called. 1st Embassy administration will collect fee and details, then wait again, then be called to room to swear oath, then back to waiting area, then called to counter to receive authorised and sealed form.
Then can leave back to guard house, exit side, collect belongings

    Easy :like:

Bloody hell I thought the Korean embassy had been built behind the British embassy, I didn't think they had built it on the corner next to C5!

Well that's me got my paper but not without problems...

1st of reception at my hotel in makati suggested I leave at least 3 hours early because of Monday morning traffic.. didn't look to far to go on the map.. my appointment was for 9.15 am so I head of at 6am... I arrived at embassy at 6.20 am grrrr 2hours 55 min to early hai naku !! Better to early than to late I guess.. found a nice mall just up from the embassy which had 1 or 2 24hr cafes..

Next problem at embassy reception they have no record of my appointment ( this is going well huh ).. They asked to see the confirmation email which I obviously didn't feel the need to bring..

Anyways after a few phone calls back and forth with the embassy guard and whoever he was speaking to I was handed the phone... spoke to a nice friendly girl who asked if I had all my documents etc which I confirmed.. she asked what time was my appointment for and duly booked me in.. phewwwww !!

Only in the Philippines eh !

    Thx again all !

And just to reconfirm which documents I did bring...

    1 Affirmation document
1 photo copy of birth certificate & original
1 photo copy of passport, page with photo, and the passport itself..

Job done ! One world cheers pal ;)
