Yet another incident for a Malaysian registered airline.

Air Asia flight QZ 8501 with 162 people on board went missing over six hours ago. It was flying between Surabaya (Indonesia) and Singapore.

The pilot had requested a higher flight path due to bad weather in the region, then air traffic control lost contact with the plane.

    Doesn't look good.

This plane is owned by AirAsia Indonesia which is 48.9% owned by Tony Fernandes' Malaysian company, the majority share is owned by the Indonesian affiliate . According to the Jakarta Post: "AirAsia flight QZ8501 from Surabaya to Singapore is believed to have crashed at the location 03.22.46 South and 108.50.07 East, in waters around 80-100 nautical miles from Belitung, a National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) official has said."

Me too, I'm surprised they haven't found the Malaysian airliner that went down yet.

Looks a bit similar to AF 447 - thunderstorms in the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone ("ITCZ").
