However heinous the crime might have been, the punishment, in my opinion, certainly doesn't warrant this barbarity.

I am glad that in this instance, the Judge postponed the sentence from being carried out, but I reckon that this reprieve will not stay in force too long, as the pressure from above will be too much to bear.

Yes, a great and vile attack was carried out on the innocent woman, but it doesn't look as a punishment but rather as revenge. And as such, should not be even considered.

He destroyed the life of a person he said he loved, how could anyone sane do that, and she now wants to ruin his life in return.
She must be unbalanced now as well.
As the world is so overpopulated we should purge it of people like him and anyone else who wants to murder or maim others in such cruel ways.
The guy in Tenerife, get rid, I doubt such people can be reformed and trusted.

The death penalty for murder still exists in many countries.

I think the death penalty still exists in a few countries for other crimes too.

I have ummed and ahhed over this one and despite what other comments I have read (both here and on other websites) I cannot see this as justice. He is not being punished for a crime, the crime is being avenged.. There is a difference! If her father had saught him out and poured acid into his face, we could all say "I understand", but someone getting paid to pour acid onto a persons face, authorised by the courts.....

Noo.. Barbaric fails to describe it.... :erm:
