Hello everyone, thought I'd pop by with an update. As you all probably know I've been in hospital and had a stem cell transplant over a week ago. Well, it appears to have been successful as I'm now generating white blood cells on my own. My current count is 0.3 which means I could be home in weeks. The downside is I appear to have some infection and the hospital won't let me out until that has gone. However, having an immune system again would help fight those infections. Feeling rough, got fluid build up in my arms and legs, fluid build up in my lungs forcing me to use oxygen now. But it will no doubt clear up, now that I've got the building blocks to fight infections. Since the transplant and total body irradiation, I have to say it was far worse in terms of how sick I've felt in all my time here, so it was nice to get a bit of good news and can see spending Christmas with the family as very likely. So that is my update to how I'm doing. Still got a tough time to get through but I'll deal with that as it happens...
I guess it was always going to be rough, but great to hear that it looks like it's working, take care Sean and lets hope you are up and running for Christmas! All the best.
Guess you glow in the dark now Stick with it Kuya, hope you recover quickly, and are out in time for a decent Christmas with your family.
On a cold Monday morning in China this news has made me feel warm and has cheered me up! All the best Sean. Al.
You are a fighter, Sean. Keep strong - it is just over 6 weeks to Christmas when you and Joy will have some wonderful time together at home. Best wishes.
Well done; you will feel really awful but at least you now have a target in view. Be VERY careful with that infection and DON'T get any more.
Another update would be nice Sean if you are feeling up to it, of course. Thinking about you constantly - as I'm sure everyone is. I shall endeavour to see you in about 5 weeks. Take care mate. Al.
I just checked and see that Kuya has not logged in since the last update on November 9th. I trust you are OK. It sure would be good for you and and your wife if you were home before Xmas.
