Any surprise fees at NAIA?

    Hi all,

All being well, I'm flying out of Manila today with my fiancée for the first time!

When I purchased her one-way Manila-London ticket, I included all applicable fees - but are there any other charges they'll pull out of the bag at the last minute, which I need to be ready for?

    Thanks

The limit on the amount of money you can take out the country has increased, it used to be 10,000 but it is a lot higher now, so I would just make sure I had some peso at the airport, you will be back sometime so you can always use the money at a later time.

I think the old terminal fees have been folded into the flight now and I can't think of much else but the other guys here will have a better idea.

The info given by @oss may be more current, but when my fiancee left NAIA in September the Terminal fee was 1600 pesos...

I believe you're mistaking Philippine Travel Tax (Php 1620) which often isn't included in the ticket fare with the Terminal Fee (Php 750) which now is for most airlines. Filipinos and long-stay foreigners pay PTT at the airport before checking-in for their flight.

Hmm Philippines travel tax. I'm pretty sure that was an optional extra I paid when purchasing my fiancée's ticket on the PAL website. Looking at her ticket receipt, it unfortunately doesn't break down the other fees I paid in top.

Ah, on the original ticket purchase confirmation, it looks like I did include the travel tax:

Should be enough for any emergency.

I took about 4400 out the country last time, I might take more next time depending on how the exchange rate goes, I'm wining on my last trip, just a couple of quid, as I bought at 73.5 compared to 65.8 or so today.

I always pay for a lounge when I leave just makes it a bit more relaxing, can't remember but it was about 600 per person last time.

73.5? That's real nice. I think we had 71 or 72 in Bohol in April. Around 66 in Manila the past few days. Gotta make the most of it when you can!

Managed to get through check-in etc without any extra fees, so at least in our case, PAL covered all charges via the online ticket purchase.

The money you've stated is in your possession should be more than sufficient. Any emergencies, there are ATMs in the airport.

If your other half is charged the 1620 travel tax charge (in error), it can be claimed back. All airport departure charges should now be included in your ticket cost... as indicated.

    Stop worrying. ;)
