Would love to know if there are some Filipinos living nearby and if we could be friends. It's gonna be a huge adjustment for me to settle in UK, being away from family and friends. My husband thought this forum could help me through the adjustments as I could find friends. He's been worried I would not be able to adjust easily. Hope I can find help here. Thanks in advance.

I believe that a few are out and about Manchetser.
A whole bunch is here in Wrexham, only an hour's car drive away, or train ride.

Thanks Aromulus for the reply. Do you do a member meet ups or anything similar? I will inform my husband about Wrexham. Thanks again.

I used to live in Stretford, Manchester. I lived there for about 25 years. But moved away about 8 years ago. I liked Manchester.

I don't think you'll have much of a problem making friends in a place the size of Manchester.

It may seem a bit strange at first to be in a foreign country, but whenever my wife sees a Filipino walking along the street they always give each other a knowing smile. She has made proper friends this way, and I'm sure where we live has a much smaller Filipino population than a large city.

We go Filipino spotting now when we are out!

She's also made non-Filipino friends too, through me and through her work. I suspect youll be fine after a bit of a slow start. :)

As Maharg says, if you are friendly and outgoing like most Filipinas are then friends will not be hard to find, just a little time, that's all that is required.

My wife met another Filipina at the Metro stop on her way home from work in Manchester, the other Filipina was ecstatic to see her, even gave her a family sized Dairy Milk which I ate, lovely :)

Filipinos always acknowledge each other on the street, I find it quite amusing.

They also tend to ignore each other with blatant vitriolic stares...
    But that is another story....

Nice knowing you liked Manchester JonAsh. That's an added point. My husband stays in Worsley btw. And we love to know if somehow somewhere there is a Filipino/Filipina nearby.

Thanks for lifting my spirit up Maharg. May I ask where you are located in UK? Well, that's what I expect as well. Hope I'll be able to gain more friends when I come over.

That's a nice story to hear Timmers. Wish to meet your wife. Are you still in Manchester?

Aromulus, hmmm... Well guess depends on the attitude of a Filipina as well. I see.

We're down South in Berkshire, so quite a long way from Manchester.

Don't worry though. Just be patient for a bit at first, and things will work out.

Hello Judith, there's plenty of Filipinos around that area, once you meet one you will be re-introduced many times. Wife and I are from Bolton just up the Road from Worsley. Unfortunately my wife's gone back to the Philippines.:)
