Hello everyone. Finally granted the spouse visa last December and arrived here just in time for Christmas. I'm so happy that our family is together again.
Now that my visa issue is resolved ( until the next application comes), I have to start sorting my life. So far, these are the things we have done:

    1. Picked up my BRP as soon as I arrived.
    2. Changed our council tax account to joint names.
    3. Changed my husband's bank current account to joint ( we gave them the Tenancy agreement which is in joint names as proof of address)
    4. Tried to change our Utility bills to joint names but EE and EON wouldn't do it so we decided to put the EE under my name and EON under my husband's.
    5. Registered with the local medical clinic.
    6. Applied for NI number. ( I called the number from the website and they sent me the form which I filled up and attached copies of my BRP and the previous UK visas issued to me. My NI number was mailed after a week.)
    7. Applied for my provisional driving license. I applied online because it is cheaper. They sent me the form and I had to mail it back to them with my original BRP. After one week, I got my provisional license and I already booked my theory test for next month. If I passed the theory test, it will be valid for two years so I want to get this out of the way.

What else do we have to do? How about tax, etc? Do I have to register or anything?
I haven't started working yet but would like to as soon as possible. Where is the best place to start looking?
Moving here is such overwhelming and challenging experience for us but the important thing is that our children settled so well. We want to do everything right from the start so we don't have to encounter problems for my next FLR application.

Thank you again for all your help.

We had problems using both names with Npower so switched to EDF, who were happy to do it.

When I called the national insurance people they said my wife had to have an interview? It's good news that you managed to just get the number using a form... How did you manage that? Do you remember the name of the form or where you got it?

I called the number from this website https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number
They sent the form to me and I mailed it back to them. The form said I might be called for interview but they didn't.

We thought it was easy to change for joint names but you are right, not all companies allow it.
